NIRF Ranking 2023 Highlights: IIT Madras holds first position; IISC, JNU, JMI among top 10 institutes

IRF College Ranking 2023 Highlights: The Ministry of Education has released the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2023. The eighth edition of NIRF 2023 ranking was declared by on June 5, 2023 by Rajkumar Ranjan Singh, minister of state (MoS), Education and External Affairs in a press conference. The ranking can be viewed on the official website of the ranking platform- nirfindia.org. This year also Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) have dominated the NIRF Rankings 2023. The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras has been declared as the top institute in India followed by IIT-Bombay, IIT-Kanpur and IIT-Roorkee in the Engineering category. Furthermore, the Indian Institute of Science (IISC), Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) have been declared among top 10 institutes in the country. In the Colleges Category, Miranda House, Hindu College, and Presidency College, Chennai have been declared as top three. Furthermore, AIIMS Delhi, once again has bagged the first position in the medical colleges category. This year NIRF added one new discipline – Agriculture and Allied Sectors to the seven subject domains assessed in 2022 which included- Engineering, Management, Pharmacy, Law, Medical, Architecture, and Dental. This year’s ranking saw the participation of approximately 8686 institutions, marking the 8th edition of the NIRF. This marks a staggering 150% increase in participation since the inauguration of the NIRF in 2015, highlighting the growing importance and influence of these rankings in shaping India’s academic landscape. NIRF 2023 Ranking Criteria: A Comprehensive Assessment The NIRF 2023 evaluates institutions based on a broad spectrum of parameters including teaching, learning and resources, research and professional practice, graduation outcome, outreach and inclusivity, and perception. This holistic approach ensures that the institutions are appraised on a multitude of facets, fostering an environment of all-round excellence. NIRF Rankings 2023: IISC, JNU, and Jamia shine in rankings, IIT Madras tops overall

In the NIRF Rankings 2023, the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bengaluru secured the top position in the research category of the NIRF Rankings 2023. IIT Madras, secured the first position as the best engineering college followed by IIT Delhi in second place, IIT Bombay, IIT Kanpur, and IIT Roorkee. IITs have maintained their stronghold in the engineering category of the NIRF Rankings 2023, occupying the majority of the top 10 positions. The NIRF Rankings 2023 are now available for viewing on nirfindia.org. The rankings are based on various parameters, including teaching learning and resources, research and professional practice, graduation outcome, outreach and inclusivity, and perception. In the 'Agriculture and Allied Sector' category of the NIRF Rankings, the Indian Agriculture Research Institute, located in New Delhi secured the first position. The National Dairy Institute in Karnal has attained the second rank and the Punjab Agriculture University in Ludhiana has achieved the third position. The parameters on which institutes are ranked are teaching learning and resources, research and professional practice, graduation outcome, outreach and inclusivity and perception. In the field of law, topping the list is the National Law University, Bengaluru, securing the first position. Following closely is the National Law University, Delhi, which has attained the second rank. Securing the third position is NALSAR University of Law, located in Hyderabad.

KIIT Jumps to 16th Position in NIRF Indian Rankings 2023

KIIT Deemed to be University has achieved a remarkable milestone in 2023 by securing the 16th position in the prestigious NIRF India Rankings 2023, which was released on 5th June 2023. This annual ranking exercise, conducted by the Ministry of Education, Govt. of India, evaluates various universities and institutions. This impressive jump in KIIT's parameter from last year's 20th rank at the national level showcases the institution's dedication to academic excellence and compassionate outreach. KIIT has also earned a place among the top 50 research universities in the country, securing the 44th position. Expressing his happiness over this achievement, Prof. Achyuta Samanta, Founder, KIIT & KISS, said, "I firmly believe that slow and steady wins the race. Slowly but surely, KIIT has evolved into a qualitative institution." He credited the diligent students, dedicated faculty, and staff for their collective efforts in attaining this recognition.
