OnePlus 10 Pro, finally out in China, is a strong contender as a top phone of 2022

David Lumb is a mobile reporter covering how on-the-go gadgets like phones, tablets and smartwatches change our lives. Over the last decade, he's reviewed phones for TechRadar as well as covered tech, gaming, and culture for Engadget, Popular Mechanics, NBC Asian America, Increment, Fast Company and others. As a true Californian, he lives for coffee, beaches and burritos. After drip-feeding out details about its new flagship phone over the last week, OnePlus has finally revealed the OnePlus 10 Pro in China. Even now, there are still a few things left to mystery, such as its launch price when it goes on sale in China on Jan. 13 or when it will be available elsewhere. (OnePlus has only said it will launch globally later in 2022.) But what we do know is that with powerful specs and sharp cameras, the OnePlus 10 Pro could be one of the top phones released in 2022. OnePlus 10T vs. OnePlus 10 Pro: How the Flagship Phones Compare

The OnePlus 10T smartphone revealed in August signals the company's plans to continue the "T" brand it's pursued on and off since 2016 -- essentially releasing a midcycle phone with smaller upgrades. The performance-focused OnePlus 10T joins the OnePlus 10 Pro in the Chinese phone-maker's flagship lineup. On sale in the US and UK now, it starts at $649 for the base model (8GB, 128GB), and $749 for the more powerful model (16GB, 256GB). UK pricing is £629 and £729, respectively, and the base price converts roughly to AU$1,135. As a performance-focused phone, the OnePlus 10T features a state-of-the-art processor, a heck of a lot of RAM, a large battery, fast charging and the largest cooling system ever in a OnePlus phone, according to the company. (For specifics, you can scroll down to CNET's specs chart.) That said, the 10T makes some compromises in pursuit of performance. The alert slider, such as the one seen here on an earlier OnePlus phone, has been a feature of OnePlus phones for years. The company removed it from the 10T, saying it was a "necessary tradeoff" to hit performance and price targets for the OnePlus 10T. Aloysius Low/CNET One of them is the signature alert slider, which has remained a fixture in virtually every major OnePlus flagship for nearly a decade. (Yes, the 10 Pro has one.) Much like the iPhone's mute switch, OnePlus' alert slider lets you switch between ringer modes such as vibrate, mute and full volume without having to navigate through menus. OneP...

OnePlus 10 Pro Review: A Great Android Phone With Some Problems

Like • Classy design • Powerful performance • All-day battery life • Vibrant screen Don't like • Slightly disappointing camera • Waterproof rating restricted to T-Mobile-exclusive models • No 80-watt fast charging in the US The OnePlus 10 Pro is without doubt the best phone the company has ever made. From its powerful processor and its beautiful display, to its solid camera and smart design, it ticks pretty much every box you should expect from a high-end flagship Android phone in 2022. And at $899 (£799, roughly AU$1,400), the phone is competitively priced against high-end rivals like the Galaxy S22 Ultra ($1,200) and iPhone 13 Pro ($999). It offers similar performance, 5G and a smooth, approachable interface. However, it's let down slightly by mediocre low-light camera performance, a lack of an official IP water resistance rating on most versions of the phone and a few omissions when it comes to the US models. Classy design, glorious display, problematic waterproofing I love the look of the 10 Pro. It's got a frosted glass back, with an attractive camera unit and a lovely green color that I think is smarter and more stylish than the shiny fingerprint-prone backs of the previous OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro. It has a look that I think stands out well against the likes of the iPhone or S22 Ultra. From left to right, the Pixel 6 Pro, the iPhone 13 Pro, the OnePlus 10 Pro and the Galaxy S22 Ultra. Andrew Lanxon/CNET It should put up with some abuse too, as the back is made from tough...

I’m hard-pressed to say which phone is better, since OnePlus hasn’t been able to match Samsung’s new update policy — nor does the OnePlus 10 Pro have the S22 Ultra’s productivity potential. I finally got the OnePlus 10 Pro in my hands to see how its new camera compares to its top rivals, the iPhone 13 Pro, Galaxy S22 Ultra and Pixel 6 Pro. OnePlus took the wraps off the 10 Pro much earlier in the year, but I've only now been able to actually use it. It's the company's new flagship phone, including some of the high-end specs seen in other 2022 flagship phones, such as Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor, a glorious 6.7-inch display, 5G, Android 12, fast charging... the list goes on. But it's the camera I'm particularly excited about. Not just because I'm a photographe...
