2022 Mitsubishi Pajero Sport GLS review

Fitted to our car specifically is a set of dealer-fit accessories including side steps ($1004), Redarc brake controller ($679), cargo liner ($205), and a tow bar kit ($1386). You might be able to spot a GLX Pajero Sport by its privacy tint rear windows, rear spoiler, or chromed keyless entry door handles. Fewer storage options are found in the second row – there are only map pockets, smallish door pockets and a fold-down centre armrest that contains a set of cupholders. You’ll note air vents above your head, while an Australian-standard 150-volt power outlet (and two USB-A ports) can provide charge to your devices. The third row is a bit of a compromise, even if you’re shorter. My knees were raised awkwardly in the air, and the seat is a weird scoop shape that feels odd to sit in. That said, you do get air vents to keep back-most passengers cool and a set of cupholders. The boot is accessed by a power tailgate. Embedded within the dash is an 8.0-inch screen that can run Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. You’ll probably want to run those two systems as opposed to Mitsubishi’s own, as they do present far nicer. Mitsubishi’s software does a fine job, and it’s easy enough to use bits like the satellite navigation, but it just looks a bit drab. The 2022 Mitsubishi Pajero Sport is covered off by a five-star ANCAP safety rating that was achieved back in 2015. This score was achieved thanks to the Mitsubishi Triton on which the Pajero Sport is based. It’s not certain the Pajero Spor...

The Mitsubishi Pajero Sport family is growing for 2022, with new 4×2 variants and a sporty-looking GSR flagship. UPDATE, 31/05/2022 – Mitsubishi Australia has increased the before on-road pricing for the Pajero Sport by $500 as part of a wider range price increase. The range now starts at $44,440 before on-road costs. The MY22 range arrives in showrooms in January 2022. However, every carryover variant took on a price hike of between $1450 and $1500. “New GSR and 2WD variants make the 22MY Pajero Sport range more attractive to a wider span of customers than ever, while preserving the model’s renowned value for money,” said a spokesperson for Mitsubishi Australia. If you are on the hunt for a big rugged seven-seat SUV on a budget than Mitsubishi’s Pajero Sport might be the answer. Here are five things you need to know about the Pajero Sport GLS. THE PRICE IS RIGHT The Mitsubishi Pajero Sport GLS we tested is priced at $52,240 drive-away. That’s more than $10,000 cheaper than the equivalent Ford Everest and about $8000 cheaper than the Isuzu MU-X. The Mitsubishi Pajero Sport is much cheaper than its main rivals. The Pajero Sport GLS comes with seven seats, two-wheel drive and a 2.4-litre turbo diesel engine. If you want four-wheel drive you’ll have to stump up an extra $5000 or so. The GLS has a fairly bare bones set-up but there are some quality touches, including 18-inch alloy wheels, LED head and tail lights and chrome exterior highlights. Inside there are manually adjustable cloth seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and gear shifter and a power tailgate granting access to a generous 502-litre boot. Connectivity is taken care of via an eight-inch touchscreen that is compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. This is paired with digital radio, Bluetooth and in-built satnav. You can choose between two and four wheel drive. Four-wheel drive versions of the Pajero Sport have off-road necessities such as high and low-range gears, selectable drive modes for different surfaces and a locking rear differential. The Pajero Sport has less ground clearance and lower water wading height than key rivals. IT’S UTE UNDERPINNINGS SHOW THR...
