Pandharpur Yatra

Pandharpur is located in the District of Solapur in Maharashtra. The actual Pandharpur Yarta begins from the region of Dehu that is located in the Pune District. From there the journey of the Pandharpur yatra begins near about 21 days prior to the occasion of Ashadi Ekadashi. The Yatra travels from Dehu, Pune city and then reaches the Alandi and finally to its destination, Pandharpur. This is one of the most auspicious occasions for the followers of the Vitthal and Rukmini. A trek for the 21 days from Dehu to Pandharpur is known as the Pandharpur Ashadi Ekadashi Waari and it terminate on the day of Ashadi Ekadashi day that comes in the month of Ashad according to the Marathi month. It is considered to be one of the most important and spiritual place amongst the people of Maharashtra. This Waari is taken since the ancient period more than 700 years.
