Patna, May 30 (IANS) A probe has been launched after the Railway Protection Force (RPF) received a call threatening to blow up the Patna railway junction. The RPF, along with the General Railway Police (GRP), immediately swung into action late on Monday night and launched a search operation after the call, which turned out to be a hoax. Intensive search operations were carried out across all 10 platforms late on Monday night. The officials also searched the baggage of passengers on the platforms as well as in the trains that were arriving. The RPF also took the help of bomb and dog squads during the search operation. "On receiving a threatening call to blow up Patna Junction railway station, we immediately launched a search operation on all platforms, waiting halls, rest rooms, washrooms, clock room, parking area apart from the baggage of passengers on board trains as well as on the platforms. Nothing could be found," said Vipin Chaturvedi, inspector of RPF Patna. The security agencies of Patna have received threatening calls in the past. The official said that they are on the high alert. PATNA: A state-of-the-art AC executive lounge-cum-restroom has been made functional at Patna Junction to cater to the needs of elite class passengers. According to Danapur divisional railway manager (DRM) Prabhat Kumar, railways wanted to utilise the space which was earlier used by the IRCTC to run a food plaza on the platform number 1 at Patna Junction. “Railways roped in a noted hospitality sector firm to develop a modern VIP lounge-cum-restroom on nominal service charges from passengers during their stay there,” he said. Besides, a food court has also been launched on the ground floor while the AC executive lounge is located on the first floor.
