Our Correspondent Kohima | September 25 The Nagaland State level World Pharmacist Day on the theme, ‘Pharmacy united in action for a healthier world’ was observed today under the aegis of Nagaland Pharmacist Association (NPA) in collaboration with Kohima District Pharmacist Union (KDPU) at CMO Kohima Conference Hall. Addressing the gathering of pharmacists serving in various health units of Department of Health and Family Welfare (DHFW), Khizoto, District Pharmacy Officer Kohima said the theme aims to highlight pharmacy’s positive impact on health around the world, as well as to strengthen professional solidarity. The objective is to extend an invitation to colleagues from all areas of the pharmacy profession to join the campaign and demonstrate to the world how we are unified for health, despite and overcoming conflict, various political and cultural perspectives, and economic inequality, he said. Today is a chance to emphasise the importance of the pharmacist profession-related responsibilities, without which there could be no comprehensive patient care, he said. Expressing that a pharmacist’s responsibility is more than just a job, he said that it’s a way of life while the welfare of the patient is of utmost importance to them. Saying that the profession of a pharmacist has changed over the centuries and today they are mainly limited to medicines, he said. Each year, on 25 September, the International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP) commemorates World Pharmacists Day. ‘Pharmacy united in action for a healthier world’ was the theme of World Pharmacists Day 2022, which aimed to showcase pharmacy’s positive impact on health around the world and further strengthen solidarity among the profession. The pharmaceutical profession around the world was instrumental in providing direct patient care and performing frontline duties for their communities during the challenging times of the pandemic. To commemorate World Pharmacists Day, the Professor Sammut Bonnici reflected on how the Department of Pharmacy is contributing towards themes of the University of Malta Strategic Plan in areas of learning and teaching, research, societal and national impact, enterprise and international outlook. The programme included a panel discussion with stakeholders from different sectors of the pharmaceutical profession, namely Stephen Falzon, Head of MDH Pharmacy, community pharmacist Dr Catherine Anne Busuttil, and pharmaceutical technologist and Qualified Person Andrew Cauchi, who provided reflections on their professional experience. World Pharmacists Day 2022 : “Pharmacy united in action for a healthier world” “Pharmacy united in action for a healthier world” is the theme of World Pharmacists Day on 25 September 2022. “Pharmacy united in action for a healthier world” is the theme of World Pharmacists Day on 25 September 2022. This year’s theme aims to showcase pharmacy’s positive impact on health around the world and to further strengthen solidarity among the profession. We invite colleagues from all sectors of the pharmacy profession to take part in the campaign and show the world how we are united for health, regardless of and overcoming conflict, different politics and cultures, and economic disparity. “The United Nations Sustainable Development Goal number 3 sets out a number of health targets, including for non-communicable diseases (such as cardiovascular disease, cancer, diabetes, chronic respiratory disease and mental health) and communicable diseases (for example, HIV, tuberculosis and neglected tropical diseases). We have seen improvements in many of these areas and our profession should be proud of and make known its contributions. However, the COVID-19 pandemic has hindered progress and it is imperative that we rally to build back better,” said FIP president Mr Dominique Jordan. Pharmacy United In Action for a Healthier World

In view of “Pharmacy United in Action for a Healthier World” a rally being organized on September 24, 2022 to observe and create awareness about the role of NATIONAL PHARMACY WEEK The rally comprising about 100 students along with 2 to 3 staff members will start at 10 AM from PES college Hanumanthanagar via Srinivasa Nagar bus stand , Bank Colony and back to the college.
