New Jersey restaurant launches 'Modi Ji Thali' ahead of PM's US trip. This is what its dishes are

By India Today News Desk: By all accounts, the United States is preparing to roll out the red carpet for A New Jersey-based restaurant has rustled up the ‘Modi Ji Thali’ ahead of his arrival in the US, news agency ANI reported. The thali, prepared by chef Shripad Kulkarni, consists of an array of traditional Indian dishes like khichdi, rasgulla, sarson ka saag, Kashmiri dum aloo, idli, dhokla, chaanch and papad. According to chef Kulkarni, the thali has been curated as per the demands of the Indian diaspora living there. The thali also pays tribute to 2023 being declared as the International Year of Millets by the UN after a recommendation from the Indian government, by including dishes prepared using millets. The restaurant owner also plans to launch another special thali dedicated to External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar soon. "We plan to launch this thali soon. I'm very positive that it's going to gain popularity. Once this does well I also plan to launch a Dr Jaishankar Thali, because he too has that rockstar appeal amongst the Indian American community," the owner said. Prime Minister Modi will embark on his first state visit to the US at the invitation of President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden this month. The BJP will celebrate ‘Seva aur Samarpan Abhiyan’ from September 17 to October 7, the day PM Modi was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Gujarat for the first time in 2001. While BJP workers across the country are celebrating PM Modi’s birthday, the occasion is even more special for the UP BJP given the upcoming polls. PROGRAMME DETAILS: On PM Modi’s 71st birthday on September 17, the BJP will begin ‘Sewa aur Samarpan Abhiyan’, during which party workers will reach out to people of different sections.
