04 Jan 2023 Veergatha 1.0 was received very enthusiastically pan India. Inspired by its success, MOE in coordination with MOD is implementing VeerGatha 2.0 from 1 st Sep 2022 to 30 th Nov 2022 under the aegis of Gallantry Awards Portal of India. In order to popularize Veergatha 2.0, several physical and online interaction of gallantry awardees were done with the school students. Students were encouraged to participate in the following activities as part of the project. • • • School students to prepare projects on lives of gallantry award winners under 'Veer Gatha' initiative School students to prepare projects on lives of gallantry award winners under ‘Veer Gatha’ initiative The project 'Veer Gatha' aims to make school students aware of the gallantry award winners, “honour the acts of bravery and sacrifice of India's brave-hearts”, “celebrate the valiance and courage of armed force officers and personnel”. School students across the country will be nudged to prepare projects in the form of poems, paintings, essays or multimedia presentations on the lives of gallantry award winners, according to a Union government initiative which was rolled out on Thursday. The project ‘Veer Gatha’ aims to make school students aware of the gallantry award winners, “honour the acts of bravery and sacrifice of India’s brave-hearts”, “celebrate the valiance and courage of armed force officers and personnel”. Under the project, the submissions will first be vetted by the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERTs), following which a committee appointed by the Ministry of Education will pick 25 best entries at the national level which will be awarded on Republic Day. Then-Havildar Sanjay Kumar, wearing his PVC medal Born ( 1976-03-03) 3 March 1976 (age47) Kalol Bakain, Allegiance Service/ branch Rank 13760533 Unit Battles/wars Awards Sanjay Kumar Early life [ ] Sanjay Kumar was born in village Kalol Bakain in Bilaspur District of Military career [ ] On 4 July 1999, as a member of the 13th Battalion, Kumar, realizing the magnitude of the problem and the detrimental effect this bunker would have in the capture of Area Flat Top, crawled alone up the ledge, along a flank, and charged towards the enemy bunker through a hail of automatic fire. Almost instantly he took two bullets in his chest and forearm that left him bleeding profusely. Though bleeding from the bullet wounds, he continued the charge towards the bunker. In hand-to-hand fighting, he killed three enemy soldiers. He then picked up an enemy machine gun and crept towards the second enemy bunker. The enemy soldiers, taken completely by surprise, were killed by him as they fled their post.
