New Delhi: On March 8, 2018, Also Read: Each year the government sets a theme to concentrate efforts towards the common goal of good nutrition for women and children. This year, the objective is to trigger Poshan Maah through Gram Panchayats as Poshan Panchayats with a key focus on “Mahila aur Swasthya” (Woman and Health) and “Bacha aur Shiksha” (Child and Education). To take the message of good nutrition and its pivotal role to every nook and cranny, various activities will be undertaken throughout the month of September. As per the official press release by the Ministry of Women and Child Development, intensive awareness and education activities will include sensitisation drives, outreach programmes, identification drives, camps and fairs with a special focus on pregnant and lactating women, children below six years and adolescent girls, in order to realise the vision of ‘Swasth Bharat’ (healthy India). Over 85% drop in central spending on Poshan Abhiyan during COVID

NEW DELHI: The data, shared by women and child development minister Smriti Irani in Rajya Sabha on Wednesday, shows a massive cut in the central spending on Poshan Abhiyan in the 2020-21 financial year. According to the ministry’s response, the central funds released for the scheme in Covid year is a fraction of pre-Covid funds released by the union government. In 2019-20, a total of Rs 1,84,268.44 lakh (over Rs 1,842 crore) central assistance was released which dropped to Rs 26,962.38 lakh — Rs 269.62 crore — in 2020-21. Despite the low budget, the official data showed, out of Rs 5,31,279.08 lakh released for Poshan Abhiyan till March 2021 as central funds, only Rs 2,98,555.92 lakh has been utilised. The scheme runs on a cost-sharing ratio of 60:40 with the larger share borne by the central government. The budget for the scheme saw a 27 percent decline. The total allocations for the newly launched Mission Poshan 2.0 stood at Rs 20,105 crore in 2021-22. About Quiz POSHAN Abhiyaan (National Nutrition Mission) – PM’s Overarching Scheme for Holistic Nourishment was launched by the Hon’ble Prime Minister on 8 March, 2018. The programme strives to reduce the level of stunting, under-nutrition, low birth weight in children and anemia in adolescent girls, pregnant women, lactating mothers as well as children “Poshan Maah” is celebrated during the month of September, 2022. Jan Andolan and community mobilization are essential components for effective implementation of Poshan Abhiyaan. The Poshan Maah 2022 Quiz MyGov portal encourages awareness about Food and Nutrition, healthy eating practices, balanced diet, importance of hand washing, use of millets etc. Terms and Conditions 1.
