Siddarameswara an ardent devotee of Srisailam Mallikarjuna Swamy, with the help of 4000 locals dug the earth to create a Pool. Lord Siva disguised himself in the form a Jangam Swamy approached Siddarameswara and said that he is from Srisailam and called by Srisaila Mallinath. Lord Siva said that he is feeling hungry and asked him for a Roti. After having Roti, Lord Siva asked Siddarama for the Curd as the Roti is causing Buring Sensation in the stomach. Siddaramesawara went outside to bring the curd, on his return he didn’t find Mallanna. Siddrama approached Jangam Swamy Ji group who are on their way to Srisailam. Jangam Swamy’s told Siddarama that they will show him Srisaila Mallana. Siddarama was not happy even after having Jyotirlinga Darshan. He wept continuously as he couldn’t find Srisaila Mallinath. It is believed that the tears from Siddarama filled the empty lake with water. Siddarama thought of jumping from the Valley Rudrakada as he didn’t hear anything back from Srisaila Mallanna. Lord Siva rescued him and asked him to return to Solapur and he will manifest on his request. With the help of the King Nanappa and the Queen, Chamala Devi built the temple for the Lord Siva.
