Pratham Education Foundation

Pratham is an innovative learning organization that works to improve the quality of education in India. Founded 25 years ago in Mumbai with the aim of providing preschool education to children in urban slums, Pratham has steadily grown over the years, in both scope and geographical coverage. Today Pratham is one of the largest non-profit organizations in education in India. Focusing on high-quality, low-cost, and replicable interventions, Pratham has reached millions of children across 20+ states and Union Territories in both rural and urban areas of India. Pratham’s interventions demonstrate how impact can be created in a short period of time without a lot of resources. Over the years, Pratham’s approach to teaching and learning has expanded to various segments and evolved both through direct work and in partnership with government systems. While direct interventions have expanded with a focus on increasing and sustaining program impact at the beneficiary and community level, partnerships have been pursued with the larger aim of creating impact not only at the beneficiary and community level, but also at the system level. As a result of its work, Pratham has been the recipient of many national and international awards such as the Kravis Prize in Leadership (2010) and the Skoll Award (2011). Pratham InfoTech Foundation

Pratham InfoTech Foundation(PIF) is a non-profit organization that works in India to bridge the digital divide, facilitate the adoption of information technologies (IT) in education, and equip disadvantaged youths with skills, tools and capabilities that new global economy demands. Affiliated with Pratham ( www.pratham.org ), an NGO that works to provide quality education to the underprivileged children of India, PIF runs IT based training, educational and community capacity building programs in underserved schools and communities. Pratham InfoTech Foundation is committed to ensuring “e-education for all” and engaged in the following activities Computer Aided Learning Gives primary school children appropriate exposure to information technologies at an early age through the use of learning aids, like computer educational games and interactive training tutorials, which are used as supplementary materials in simplifying the understanding of new or difficult concepts.

• • • ASER Report 2022 Updates: Rise in number of students taking private tuitions post Covid ASER Report 2022 Updates: Rise in number of students taking private tuitions post Covid ASER Survey Report 2022 India Updates: As schools resumed offline classes in 2022, several surveyors travelled to different parts of the country to conduct face to face interactions with children and teachers in rural India to capture the state of learning. Also read | In ASER 2022, around 7 lakh candidates from 19,060 schools in 616 districts were surveyed to calculate the learning outcomes post pandemic on school children. The report reveals that there has been an improvement in enrollment levels of children in the age bracket of 6 to 14 years have gone from 96.6 per cent in 2010 to 96.7 per cent in 2014 and 97.2 per cent in 2018 to 98.4 per cent in 2022. An increase of 7.3 percentage points in government school enrollment in the period 2018 to 2022. In 2018, 28.1 per cent of Class III students could do subtraction, while 31.1 per cent of Class V children and 41.4 per cent of Class VIII students could do division. In 2022, in a steep decline arithmetic knowledge, only 18.5 per cent of Class III students can do subtraction as well as 20.1 per cent of Class V and 38.1 per cent of Class VIII students can do division. Our past experience suggests that even in a short period of time, community members, especially local youth volunteers, are able to provide strong support to younger children for achieving basic foundational literacy and numeracy skills.The 'Summer Catch-Up Campaign' which we are also calling “CAMaL ka Camp”, will reinforce, reaffirm and demonstrate how communities can support children's learning and growth. We are delighted to announce that Pratham - Shah PraDigi Innovation Centre is selected as one of the winners of this year’s Learning Engineering Tools Competition under the Adult Learning track! Our YouthNet program is one of the scalable EdTech tools eligible to share the award prize of $4 million. Pratham undertook an exploratory study for children to understand the problem of plastic waste management in rural India. This study is a part of Pratham’s Learning for Life curriculum. In this study, we covered 8400 households, in 700 villages across 70 districts, in 15 states. Findings to be released in July 2022. YouthNet is a remote learning program that is aimed at driving a community mission led by Youth who work towards education, environment, health and livelihood. The program is designed based on the principle of ‘Education for Education,’ where youth aged 14-25 commit to community projects and earn social credits. Welcome to Pratham Pune Pratham Pune was launched in 2000 as a public charitable Trust under applicable Indian Laws under the banner “Pratham Pune Education Foundation”. Mr. B. N. Kalyani, past Chairman, Confederation of Indian Industries, Pune chapter and the Chairman of M/s Bharat Forge Ltd. inspired the move. Our Board of Trustees comprises eminent persons from Pune Industry. Please visit About Pratham parent organization Pratham started in the slums of Mumbai in 1994, as a result of the vision of a couple of committed individuals. The two, after much deliberation, decided to tackle the problem of education headlong. They could see only one way of correcting this problem and that was to involve the people of Mumbai to help the government in its quest of universalizing primary education. UNICEF parented the birth of Pratham and continued fostering it for the next three years. A Public Charitable Trust was accordingly formed by the Commissioner of the Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai together with the association of several prominent citizens of the city.
