Kanpur: Saanvi Agarwal of Lucknow won the UP state senior women chess championship which concluded at Doon International School here on Saturday. Sakshi Verma of Kanpur stood as runners up. Sanchit Yadav and Priya Yadav, both of Prayagraj, stood at the third and fourth places respectively. All four girls will represent the UP team in the national chess championship to be held in Gujarat. The final round of the event was thrilling as all the top seeded players used their brains to win the crown. Sanvi Agarwal, playing on top board with white, opened the game aggressively and put pressure on Black of Sanchita Yadav. Sanvi trapped Sanchita's queen in the 50th move and after two more moves, Sanchita conceded the game. Verma sisters of Kanpur--Sakshi and Tavya Verma--were across the table on the second board. Sakshi converted a piece into queen in the 69th move and thereafter Tanya too conceded the game. Riya Mishra of Ballia and Priya Yadav shared the points on the third board after a long battle. Fateh Bahadur Singh, district inspector of schools, who was the chief guest, gave a trophy to the champion and cheques to top ten players of the meet. Special guest Sachin Chitranshi presented trophies to top four players of Kanpur. PRAYAGRAJ: Perceiving that consuming tobacco, khaini, gutka, smoking cigarette or Bidi can be fatal in the safe operation of trains, the traffic department of Prayagraj division of the North Central Railway (NCR) have asked the authorities concerned to keep an eye on Loco pilots, of both mail, passenger and goods train, especially those who are operating on high-speed trains, asking them to refrain from consuming tobacco, khaini, gutka, cigarette or Bidi during their duty. Through an office notice, dated June 6 and signed by Senior Divisional Electrical Engineer (traffic), authorities have also been asked to keep an eye on the functioning of these staff members when they stop consuming these addictive substances. The notice has issued a list, wherein the name of the staff, his designation and even his habit of eating which specific item of tobacco or smoking is mentioned. It has been asked to identify whether the performance of the loco pilot concerned is any way impacted after consuming or leaving any form of pan masala, gutka, etc so that a check on the same can be implemented.
