The mythical bridge called ‘Ram Setu’, which according to the Ramayana was constructed under the watchful eye of Lord Ram, actually exists! At least, according to the promo of an upcoming TV show airing on the US-based Science Channel. The promo claims that Ram Setu may not have been a natural phenomena as currently considered, and had been built by humans instead. The show has cited images from NASA’s satellite over the Indian ocean to back up its claim. The video shows a line of rocks running 30 miles long between India and Sri Lanka, and argues that these were placed there by humans, rather than simply being natural limestone shoals. The show also suggests that the 7,000-year-old rocks are sitting on sand that is 4,000-years-old, with a geologist on the show, Dr Alan Lester saying that the stones were brought from elsewhere and were placed on top of the sandbar island chain. However, one has to wonder how Sri Lankans and Indians especially, are going to react to this discovery.
