Ek Villain Returns Review: Arjun Kapoor steals the show in this John Abraham, Tara Sutaria & Disha Patani starrer

Director: Mohit Suri Star cast: John Abraham, Disha Patani, Arjun Kapoor, Tara Sutaria Bollywood Bubble ratings: 3 stars Ek Villain Returns Movie Review: “Darr aur pyaar logon se buri cheezein karvaata hain” – well, this is a dialogue said by Disha Patani’s character in Ek Villain Returns and I wondered if it is true until I saw the film. After watching the film, it got me a little scared about the toxic and psycho people who live and breed on others. Ek Villain Returns starring John Abraham, Disha Patani, Arjun Kapoor, and Tara Sutaria is about two men who are heartbroken in love. But there’s a thin line between hate and love and these two men are in their own battle to prove themselves to be the hero and villain in their lives. Ek Villain has everything that one commercial movie can expect – massy dialogues, action, cliche lines, terrific songs and loaded romance. The Ek Villain Returns platter is full of commercial value. [Advertisement] Story: 8 years after Rakesh Mahadkar reigned terror on Mumbai, another serial killer takes birth who is 2 times more brutal and dangerous. This villain also hides his face behind the same cover, the Smiley Mask. Ek Villain Returns is the story of two men in one-sided love. The paths they choose to fulfil their love stories decide who the Hero is and who is the Villain. Star Performance: Arjun Kapoor plays the role of a spoiled son of an industrialist Gautam. 'Ek Villain Returns' movie review: As ridiculous as the FIRs against Ranveer Singh's viral photos

Bollywood never learns. At a time when the Hindi film industry is going through an unprecedented crisis where film after film is failing to create a mark at the box office, makers are nonchalantly pelting out ridiculous stories which are offensive, illogical and in 'Ek Villain Returns' case misogynistic- hoping that these films are lapped up by the audience. Filmmaker Mohit Suri, who has in the past made some edgy, engaging slow burners on screen like 'Zeher', 'Kalyug' and even 'Aashiqui 2' (even though it was a remake of 'A Star Is Born') comes up with the most skewed story where hate and killings are fuelled by love and the lead protagonist also turns a new leaf thanks to love. Arjun Kapoor plays Gautam, a rich bratwho does questionable activities because he has to win at everything. To win a woman's love and attention, he can fake a rape. To put his ex-girlfriend in place and make her regret dumping him, he can crash her wedding and break bottles on people's heads and to take revenge for a silly online prank, he can sleep with a woman and make her fall in love with him. Thank god, Gautam only exists in cinema, because in real life the man would have either been in jail or in some mental health therapy centre for being this strange. What's the plot of the film? Gautam and rising singer Aarvi (Tara Sutaria) have a strange on-again-off-again relationship. Aarvi goes missing at the beginning of the film and is presumed dead and the police suspect Gautam as the killer. Durin...

Movie Review

Mohit Suri’s ‘Ek Villain Returns’ is not a continuation to his 2014 ‘Ek Villain’. One can call it a stand-alone sequel or just a ‘spiritual successor’ having the title ‘Ek Villain’. Though the soul of the story is partially in lines with the earlier, but it appears that the makers are eyeing to create a viable crime franchise with ‘Ek Villain’. Let’s find out what exactly Ek Villain Returns is all about. Ek Villain Returns begins on a gory note with Aarvi (Tara Sutaria) having a house party when a killer crashes in through a window and takes her away while injuring / killing the rest. Someone captures the crime scene and the video shows Aarvi addressing the killer as Gautam (Arjun Kapoor). Gautam has his own issues and a past. Basis this video, the cops conclude that Gautam is the culprit. However, ACP V K Ganesan (J D Chakravarthy) differs and has his own reasons to doubt. Ganesan rounds up several suspects, one amongst them is Bhairav Purohit (John Abraham), a cabbie and a part time zoo worker. Bhairav’s is a mysterious character, deeply in love with Rasika Mapuskar (Disha Patani). Bhairav and Rasika have their own love story but with hints of suspicion. In this non-linear narrative between the past and present comes a flash back showing Gautam Mehra (Arjun Kapoor) as the son of Mehra (Bharat Dabholkar), a rich business tycoon, having chopper, et al. Gautam is brash and creates a ruckus at the wedding of his ex-girlfriend. The video of him beati...
