The Constitution (Eighty-sixth Amendment) Act, 2002 incorporated Article 21-A into the Indian Constitution, making it a Fundamental Right to provide free and compulsory education to all children aged six to fourteen years in such a manner as the State may decide. Every child has a right to full-time elementary education of adequate and equal quality in a formal school that follows certain basic norms and requirements, according to the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education (RTE) Act, 2009. The RTE Act came into effect from 1st April 2010 onwards. As per this act, Free education will be given to all children of 6-14 years of age by the government except those children who are admitted by their parents in schools that are not supported by the government. All states of India provide Admission under the RTE quota every year. Now, the process is online and it easier than before to apply for RTE Quota admission in India.
