Regards, Sohail Sheikh RUPAL RESIDENCY is hardly 11 months old and they claim to be a 5 star hotel,but at best they are a 3.5 star hotel.The room is clean and well laid out.The prices at the restaurant were extremely expensive.We had breakfast included in our package and the food being served was of an extremely poor quality. However one staff member viz.Neeraj was extremely helpful and friendly.The balance of the entire staff(except Neeraj) all over place needed to be retrained as they lacked the necessary professionalism required for these type of jobs. Jaisalmer City The city is preferably explored on foot. It is best to start early and cover the Fort in the morning hours. The entrance to the fort is less than a kilometer from the hotel and is a leisurely 15 min walk through the streets lined by shops. Once at the fort the places worth visiting inside it are Dusshera chowk, Palace museum, Jain temples, cannon point, narrow by-lanes lines by shops and house entrances. Views of the city are breathtaking, so is the changing colors of yellow sandstone as the sun moves across the sky. After a quick lunch break it is advisable to cover the nearby ‘havelis’ and local markets which lie in close proximity to the fort entrance. The havelis include the Patwo ki haveli, Salam singh ki haveli, Nathmal ki haveli and Mandir palace while the local markets worth visiting are the Manak chowk, Pansari Bazaar, Sunaro ka Baas, Bhatia bazaar and Sadar bazaar and offer traditional clothing, silk fabrics, home décor artefacts, leather items and silver jewellery. All havelis and bazaars are within a kilometer radius of the fort entrance. Other attractions which are worth a visit in the city are the Gadisar lake (2 km), War museum (12 km) and Government Archeological museum (450 m); all distances from the hotel. Excursions from the City A visit to the dunes is a must. There are 2 options, Sam (45 km.) and Khuri (50 km). One of the best hotel experience in my lifetime of 50 years.Very conveniently located opposite to VIP houses(District magistrate) and other officials, superb external and internal aesthetics , mix of modern and ethnic architecture, eligently & tastefully decorated rooms with European colors cream, sky blue /grey, photo frames of GIB . The roof top restaurant Gadavan is icing on the cake with beautiful Jaisalmer fort view along with sunrise .
