Interesting adaption of a creepypasta story. The story for the most part followed the idea, although I did sort of prefer the original ending and I feel the adaptations made to the story made understanding the ending more confusing. Acting was well done, although some of the actors' Russian accents were a bit iffy, which brought me out of the movie a little bit. Visually the movie was beautiful, great set design and well done cinematography. Aside from a few slight hiccups with performance and writing, a very well put together film. 3/4 • B I am blow away at the technical aspects of this film. Considering that this is a low budget/ independent it was shocking (no pun intended) to see how good the lighting and cinematography were. The acting by everyone in the film is great. Unfortunately their are some loose strings in the plot and under developed ideas, that frustrate me because of how great the rest (no pun intended) of the movie is.

Synopsis Russia, 1978. Four soviet researchers carry out an important human experiment on five American prisoners, including spies, diplomats and soldiers. An anti-sleep gas is introduced into the prisoners' cell, separated from the laboratory by a thin wall. During the experiment something goes wrong, the prisoners show signs of imbalance such as paranoia and self-harm. Even the Soviet army cannot handle the situation. Based on the famous creepypasta tale "The Russian sleep experiment".

Horror Movie Based On Disturbing "Russian Sleep Experiment" Urban Legend Is Being Made

Russian Sleep Experiment“, which took place in the 1940s with a group of people staying up for 30 days consecutively. Now a film is being made upon this subject with the Soviet Sleep Experiment. Set to be directed by Barry Andersson, the newly-titled Soviet Sleep Experiment could be one of the more engaging horror release of 2019. Here is what the film’s press contact told “Andersson has pulled together an ensemble cast of international actors to tell this suspenseful story of a married research team who, under close watch of the Red Army, set out to study the effects of forced sleep deprivation on four patients locked inside an observation chamber for 30 days.” The film, which stars the likes of Eva De Dominici, Michael Villar ( Sleight), and Chris Kattan ( Saturday Night Live) has not had an official trailer or release date yet, but it is set to release at some point during this year. While the crew behind the film is relatively inexperienced, it does seem that they are hungry to give this story the attention that it deserves. The premise is certainly interesting, but I am still not expecting much from Soviet Sleep Experiment. So many inexpensive horror films are dumped out onto VOD every week, and while this film has more of a unique premise, it still likely won’t have the marketability to be a hit with audiences.
