'Saas Bahu Aur Flamingo' Trailer: Move Over Pablo Escobar, Dimple Kapadia Is The New Drug Lord In Town

The makers of Saas Bahu Aur Flamingo just dropped a new power-packed trailer for the upcoming show, which will take a deep dive into the world of drugs, guns, and more. The show led by Dimple Kapadia, Radhika Madan, Angira Dhar, and Isha Talwar is set to release on Disney+ Hotstar on May 5, 2023. SEE ALSO: The trailer begins with Dimple Kapadia introducing a young man possibly her son to the idea of her running a drugs cartel. She can be seen smoking and sitting in the dark acing the eerie Godfather vibe. Meanwhile, the voice-over introduces the audience to their main product, Flamingo. When asked how is she doing it all alone, Dimple proudly reveals the aid by her side, her daughter, and her daughter-in-law. Meanwhile, the entire factory seems to be run by women. The trailer also hints at Dimple's character being in power, may it be political or otherwise. Radhika's character also got major screen time in the trailer and will be seen making some serious and tough choices. Earlier another trailer was released by the makers that hinted at a more happy family kind of vibe. However, the follow-up trailer puts its female lead characters forward. Talking about the show, Dimple Kapadia in a statement said, "Saas Bahu aur Flamingo is difficult for me to explain as a journey because it’s not like anything I have seen or done before." Explaining her character she further added, "Brutal and vulnerable, she is a master in manipulation, playing a very high stakes game that seesaws bet...

‘Saas, Bahu aur Flamingo’ Review: Dimple Kapadia Rules & Reigns; Women Run the World

This business Rani Cooperative is run by a matriarch Savitri (Dimple Kapadia) and she is expertly aided by her daughter Shanta (Radhika Madan) with a knack for chemistry and her daughter-in-laws Kajal (Angira Dhar) and Bijli (Isha Talwar). The events of Saas, Bahu aur Flamingo are triggered by the return of Savitri’s sons Kapil (Varun Mitra) and Harish (Ashish Verma). Dimple Kapadia’s act will convince you that Savitri owns the show, the device you’re watching on, and the world. She is supported every step of the way by a strong supporting cast. Madan, Talwar, and Dhar all introduce shades to their character only a deep understanding could help with. Deepak Dobriyal who plays Savitri’s rival in the East is a pleasure to watch as always but isn’t given his due since he does most of his part in hushed, derivative dialogues. Udit Arora as the conflicted-man-in-love Dhiman is another solid offering. The show has all the makings of a thriller-drama: a drug cartel (and Pablo Escobar references), witty one-liners, rival drug lords, an anti-narcotics officer hot on Rani Cooperative’s tail, and a Succession-esque plot line for the waaris. But in trying to make this show about women and their agency, does it rid itself of the male gaze? At the surface level, yes. The understanding of feminism and female rage in Saas, Bahu aur Flamingo isn’t performative. Savitri’s aim to empower women around her and run a successful drug cartel are contrasted with her willingness to let her son’s co...

Here are a few excerpts from the interview: Mark Bennington Delves Deep Into The Psyche And Prep For Saas, Bahu Aur Flamingo My audition scene was the drug experience scene and I went for it. I tell you what was challenging. First of all, the French accent. I pride myself for being pretty good at accents and I’ve done a lot of accents in my career even in my LA days. So I really worked on it. I...
