Saheliyon Ki Bari is a majestic garden in the city of Udaipur. We visited the place in Mar’23 during evening time, the entry is Rs. 20 per pax. It has beautifully landscaped lush green lawns, walking lanes, tall trees, colorful flowers and fountains. The place is considered of significant historical importance. As per legend, the garden was designed by the king himself and was presented to his queen. This attractive garden used to be the popular relaxing spot of the royal ladies. The queen with her maids and female companions used to come here for a stroll and spend their time in leisure. The garden is beautifully landscaped with tall trees, lush green grasses, and flower beds. The beauty of the garden increases further by the colorful flowers, fountains and lotus pool with marble pavilions and statues. One can take a pleasant stroll or relax and absorb the beauty of the location. It is a great place to spend your afternoons or evenings with your family. It is a huge garden rich in history and culture. The middle courtyard consists of a pool with fountains and pink and white flowers on the walls surrounding it. Witness the lavish lifestyle of the royal ladies at Saheliyon ki Bari. There are pools, lily ponds, flowers, marble fountains, flowers, etc. It was built by Maharana Sangram Singh in the 18th century to please his princess. The garden has four pools ornated with delicately chiselled kiosks, elephants in marble (each elephant sculptured out of a single piece of stone) and lions carved out of marble serving the purpose of the fountain which creates the royal picture of the bygone era. Was apprehensive on visiting this garden but happy that I went there! Entry ticket is 20 rupees per person, you need to park your car on the parking area opposite to the garden. The garden is lovely with water fountains and Rajasthani architecture. There is an area called ‘saavan bhado’ with rain showers meant to get wet, one ‘raas leela’ garden with a variety of flowers and a central lotus pond named ‘kamal talai’ wherein you need to clap for the water sprinklers to start. Overall a lovely experience. Evening and weekends are more crowded so choose your time of visit wisely if you want to click pictures leisurely. Duration of stay around 30 minutes. The only thing that the government can do is get the walls of the structures painted and set up some souvenir shops in the empty premises.
