It is believed that Raavan was a scholar who composed the goose-bump inducing Shiv Tandav. He has knowledge of all the scriptures, vedas and was a great astrologer. People are upset that he does not have a kumkum on his forehead. Now, fans will remember how Also Read - Ravan was Brahmin, a scholar who composed “shiva tandav”.He had the knowledge of vedas & was an excellent astrologer. This pic of Saif Ali Khan is no where to Ravana. A South Indian Brahmin during those times would put kumkum on his forehead, this is a pic of “Mlecha” the Taimur. — ABHAY KHOPADE (@Khopadeabhay) Saif converted amrita & kareena to khan .. Produced ibrahim sara jehangir taimur .... he has done his duty towards i$i isi$ & deen.. dosent matter to him whether he looks gazni or ravan . All that matters is changing the demographics in favour of AfPak — plastic HATER (@HINDUmarhatta) I have zero expectations from actors like Abu Taimur alias Saif. But I fail understand how extreme hinduphobes like Saif land roles in many Indian historical movies. Only option is to ignore any movies starring such actor...

Deconstructing Saif's Adipurush Look: Popular Cinema and The 'Khilji Archetype'

Adipurush, the Ramayanacame out with its teaser a few days ago. While its disappointing VFX stood out immediately, Saif Ali Khan’s look as Lanka’s king Ravana was slammed as well. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) spokespersonMalavika Avinashdenounced the look as that of a “Turkish tyrant” and Hindu Mahasabha chiefChakrapani Maharajsaid that the look resembled that of “ Atanki (terrorist) Khilji, Chengez Khan and Aurangzeb”. Neither of the two clarified what about Saif’s look made it akin to that of a “Turkish tyrant” or a Khilji/Aurangzeb, andyet everybody seems to have understood what they meant. The “Khilji archetype”, based on the Delhi Sultan The “Khilji archetype,”however,in the Indian imagination today is that of a villainous, murderous and lecherous “Muslim sultan” – the visual representation of which is epitomised in the heavily-bearded man with kohl-lined eyes and a menacing gaze with an overly muscular body. This archetype is not borne in any of the sultanate or Mughal paintings of yore. In fact, what stands out in these paintings is an absolute lack of kohl in the rulers’ eyes and a beard which only rarely makes an appearance. Most depictions of rulers such as Ghiyas Khalji of Malwa or Mughal emperors Akbar and Jahangir conform to the Indian male aesthetic of the handlebar moustache and a podgy body. Similar aesthetic is also followed in sculptures of the Bodhisattava Maitreya sculpted long before the Delhi sultans and the Mughals. The creation of the “marauding Mus...

Om Raut Reacts To Adipurush Criticism, Defends Saif Look As Ravan From Modern Time

Adipurush has received negative reactions since the teaser of Prabhas’ ambitious project was released. The magnum opus by Om Raut pulled massive criticism for poor VFX and the wrong representation of deities. Immediately after the teaser launch, people flooded the internet trolling Saif Ali Khan as he didn’t match the look of Ravan. For the unversed first look poster and teaser were launched during Navratri festivities in Ayodhya, the sacred land of Lord Rama. Netizens were quick to understand Ravan from Adipurush looked like someone from the Mughal era. People even drew similarities with Ranveer Singh’s Padmaavat character Alauddin Khilji. Film director Om Raut defends Ravan’s look stating he is a demon as depicted in modern times. Om Raut said, “When we saw that, it had a lot of modern technology. One arrow comes, 10 come out of it, then 100 come out of it. We had never seen all of this. This was very new for all of us. We didn’t know about it. It was very popular in those days.” He went on to say, “Ravan is a demon. He was a cruel being so he was given a big mustache, and they showed him as a demon in those times. It was their artistic representation of what a demon would look like. Our Ravan is demonic in today’s times. In today’s times, in my artistic opinion, a demon could look like this.” Adipurush featuring Prabhas, Kriti Sanon, and Saif Ali Khan is based on the Indian mythological epic Ramayana. The film is depicted on Ramcharit Manas and Ramanand Sagar’s Ramayan....

‘Adipurush’ new trailer shows a spectacular exchange between Ram and Ravan

The trailer is 2 minutes and 24 seconds in length and opens with It then presents a full-blown saga of a battle. Raghav and the VanarSena embark on an extraordinary journey to bring back Janaki. The VFX however, comes across as a bit disappointing as the animated characters look far from real. The rotoscopy seems amateure and so does the rendering. What does stand out in the trailer and builds the anticipation is the terrific background score by the music director duo Sanchit Balhara and Ankit Balhara, who have earlier delivered the background score of the Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff-starrer 2019 blockbuster 'War'. The trailer is laced with long dialogues that suit its universe but might not hold the audience's attention for too long. 'Adipurush', directed by Om Raut and produced by T-Series, Bhushan Kumar and Krishan Kumar, Om Raut, Prasad Sutar, and Rajesh Nair of Retrophiles, Pramod and Vamsi of UV Creations, is scheduled to release worldwide on June 16, 2023.
