Best Pizza in San Francisco

What started as a venerated food truck has transformed into an upscale pizzeria catering to adults who appreciate a well-made pie with ingredients sourced from local Sonoma farms. Despite its casual beginnings, Del Popolo is now a crisp, elevated operation in Nob Hill that makes for an excellent date spot or splurge dinner. The Neapolitan-style pies, pocked with crispy blisters on a chewy interior, are made with a sourdough starter—resulting in a "dough that is distinct and different," according to owner Jon Darsky. Believe the hype. Zero Zero is a sexy, upscale SoMa restaurant with a lively bar scene. Puffy-crusted Neapolitan-style pies are the main draw. The classics are nicely done (Marinara, Margherita) but the more creative pies are worth a try, too, like the Fillmore, a mushroom-leek white pie. Apps and pastas are beautifully done, but you're missing out if you don't try the pizza. It's a genuine (if expensive) crowd-pleaser that's well-suited to catching up with a friend, a first or second date, or a low-stress work meeting. The Outer Richmond doesn't get heavy tourist foot traffic, but Fiorella might be reason enough for a visit. Before you even get to the pizza, you'll be struck by the custom-designed wallpaper depicting local legends and landmarks—but then, the pizza arrives. Among the crispy, thin-crust, wood-fired pies, the winner might just be the burrata pizza, topped with San Marzano cherry tomatoes, fresh basil, and an entire ball of savory, fresh Di Stefan...

Goldenroy – San Francisco Sourdough Pizza

Had a pretty good experience here. Colleagues and I went after the lunch crowd madness. I believe it’s a 3-story food establishment 1st floor is where you order and they make your pizzas at the back! The second and third floor were dining areas with cute little toaster oven on every table for you to warm up your pizzas if they turn cold from all the banters how creative is that!! Everything is digitalised so no cash ya!! We had 2 pizzas 1 box of 4 different flavours and the other box was Half mushrooms and half pepperoni. As a big fan of pepperoni pizza I was expecting to be more impressed by it than the other flavours but honestly i had better.. However I was surprised by how the other toppings saved it!! The mushroom w pesto and the garlic clams by far was the most outstanding than the rest!! The scallops was ok but it was too rich and the amount of onions overpowered the other flavours. There was also the camembert cheese was so-so for me but well received amongst colleagues. Would definitely go back or tabao next time ❤️👍 Ordered their weekday delivery set. Pizza was very generously topped with the ingredients, no spare crust. The base was really crispy as advertised. Taste was also great, with flavours balanced well. Pizza came a little early at 6pm for my 630-7 timeslot but reheating it according to instructions got the pizza back to prime condition. Overall great pizza! fantastic service! roy took the special effort to make sure the order was processed smoothly and ...

View Website Earn 3X Points Save to a list The casual SoMa spot has Detroit-style pizza down to a science. The baked cheddar edges of each hefty slice are crispy perfection, toppings are presented like art, and there are plenty of creamy dipping sauces like cilantro crema and ranch. Our go-tos are the 6x8 with exactly 48 pepperonis, or the Big Von, a stunner loaded with sausage, gooey hot honey, and garlicky ricotta cream. Fantastic Szechuan dry-fried wings, fries, and salads will round out your meal. View Website Earn 3X Points Save to a list The pies from Joyride Pizza are encyclopedia-thick behemoths that are surprisingly light—the focaccia-like crusts stay airy underneath a mountain of toppings, and the crisp bottoms crackle when you bite into them. Toppings range from classic pepperoni and Italian sausage to things you’d find at a farmer’s market stall—brussels sprouts, arugula, and fig jam. And the slightly sweet tomato sauce is so good you’ll want to order even more on the side for dipping. Joyride has a takeout-only slice shop in the Mission, but we prefer the Yerba Buena location, which includes seating overlooking the gardens. Like Square Pie Guys and Joyride, the laidback Bernal Heights brewery focuses on Detroit-style pies, which you can order by the slice. This article is a guest feature by California has long been known for its focus on local and sustainable food. It is fresh, in-season, and sourced through carefully cultivated relationships. While California cuisine was originally championed by the likes of Alice Waters and Jeremiah Tower, farm-to-table focus has since spread across the US and influenced just about every style of food. A post shared by Nov 28, 2018 at 4:41pm PST Pizza is the perfect food to embody California cuisine’s major characteristics because pizza is essentially a blank slate. Restaurants will top their dough with Nutella and Banana or smear it with cream cheese and cover that with smoked salmon. Given its flexibility, there is a lot of room for creativity. Not to mention, the pizza community seems open to melding the old and the new. It is full of individuals who love the craft and are happy to encourage others who share their passion, regardless of the form that it takes. Traditionalists would lead you to believe that pizza is an unchanging, set-in-stone craft, but most are willing to try inventive pizza. Furthermore, pizza is from Italy, a country known for a culturally-ingrained respect and appreciation for quality, local, sustainable food. The world is gravitating toward breaking conventions like genre fusion in music. This mindset simply encourages the culinary world to do the same. So, what is San Francisco-style pizza?
