At a distance of 12 km from Kolkata Railway Station, Science City is a science center located in Kolkata city of West Bengal. Situated at the crossing of Eastern Metropolitan Bypass and JBS Haldane Avenue, it is the biggest science center in India and among the major Kolkata Tourist Places. One of its kind in India, the Science City, Kolkata is a unit of the National Council of Science Museums (NCSM), the Ministry of Culture, Government of India. It was opened on 1st July 1997 as a major attraction for the residents' of Kolkata as well as for the national and international visitors to the metropolis. Among the largest and finest in the world, it is presenting science and technology in a stimulating and engaging environment that is truly educational and enjoyable for the people of all ages. Sprawling in 50 acres, Science City boasts of two facilities, the Science Centre and the Convention Centre. The Science Centre features several galleries and halls, each of which educates visitors about both heard and unheard scientific principles. Dynamotion Hall, Earth Exploration Hall, Maritime Centre, Evolution Park, and Space Odyssey are important galleries of Science City. Within Dynamotion Hall, there are four sections - Illusions, Fresh Water Aquarium, Live Butterfly Enclave and Powers of Ten (43 exhibits of the universe). Kids loved the show very much. There are different shows in different languages of Bengali, Hindi and English. We showed 2 p.m. Hindi show. 30 minute show will be loved by children and adult both. Ideal time to spare there is approximate one hour. Nearby attraction is Victoria Memorial, which is at walking distance of 5-10 minutes, where you can spend 1-2 hours. Earlier I've suggested a quick plan for another traveler, so I'm putting here again, you can have a look if you want. Otherwise you can take this plan slowly and divide into more days like - allow a full day for Kolkata Museum and afternoon evening in Princep Ghat to see sunset. Day 1: Take a metro ride till Kalighat Metro Station. It'll take not more than 5-10 minute to enter temple gate and rest on crowd. From there you can metro till Park Street station. You can walk or take a cab to mother house via Park Street. In late evening, you can enjoy in Park Street with good food options and nightlife. Metro is the fastest communication option in Kolkata so use as much as possible. Day 2: On early morning, you can take a cab or bus to Dakhineswar temple and stay there around 1-2 hours. After that take a ferry ride and visit Belur Math, it's very clam place and keep on must visit list. Ferry will return you to Dakhineswar again. From there, take a cab/bus and come back to Esplanade. It's a great place to eat and shopping. Later ...

Well this is my favourite place to visit in Kolkata during the vacations or breaks. With family or friends it's the best place to hangout and have fun. With the collosal science museum to the prehistoric dinosaur museum or the 3D shows or the garden outside with the ropeway it's a total package deal. No other place to look around if you are low on budget yet you want to have fun and if you are a nerd it's a heaven for your soul. Go and have fun. Oh and be careful don't get lost in the mirror world !

It is very well connected with just on the edge the Kolkata hustle and bustle yet closes enough to walk. With lakes and greenery...
