New Delhi: The 9-day long Chaitra Navratri festival is being celebrated in the country with full gusto. This year it began on April 2 and will culminate on April 10, Ram Navami respectively. Chaitra Navratri, also known as Vasanta Navratri, will be celebrated from March 22 to 31, 2023. As Chaitra is the first month of the Hindu lunar calendar, this Navratri is known as Chaitra Navratri. It is observed in the Shukla Paksha of the Hindu calendar Chaitra maas to worship Navdurga, the nine forms of Goddess Durga.



The Chaitra Navratri will be observed from March 22, 2023, to March 31, 2023. The Ashtami of the Chaitra Navratri, which is considered to be the most important day of ritual, falls on the 9th day of the Navratri which is on March 30. Ram Navami, the birthday of Lord Rama is usually on the ninth day of the Navratri festival.



Primarily, it is celebrated by the Hindu community twice every year — once around this time of the year, and then in the month of October, coinciding with Durga Puja celebrations. This year, Chaitra Navratri begins on April 2 with Maa Shailputri puja, and ends on April 11 with Navratri Parana.
