Bonalu festival is Telangana State’s official festival and a month-long ‘Ashadam Bonalu’ festival will be commenced on June 30 at Golconda fort and culminates on July 24. Keeping in view this, the Telangana Postal Department, joined hands with Telangana Endowments Department and made a facility for the customers.

Bonalu is celebrated in the month of Ashada which, according to the modern calendar, falls around July-August. On the first and last days of the festival, special pujas and other religious ceremonies are held for ‘Yellamma’, who is said to be one of the many regional incarnations of Mahakali.
