Karnam Malleshwari is the female weightlifter of India. In the Olympic Games held in Sydney in 2000, Indian player Karnam Malleswari created history by winning bronze medal in the women's 69 kg category. She became the first woman from India to win an Olympic medal. She was the fourth Indian to win an individual medal at that time.
