By Express News Service Madhu Chandra's first film, Vascodigama revolved around the extent to which education system in India holds practically among students. His next Selfie Mummy Google Daddy explores the dangers of mobile addiction in the younger generation. Ahead of the film’s release this week, the director tells CE why he chose the subject and cast Srujan Lokesh and Meghana Raj Sarja in the lead. “While mobile addiction is the case in all households, I witnessed this at my home too. Going deep, I felt the major reason behind the problem is parents. Studying kids’ and parents’ behaviour, I learned that today parents are running to fulfill their ambitions. As a result, they are not spending quality time with their kids. Selfie Mummy Google Daddy explores these problems,” he says. However, he assures us the film will be entertaining despite its serious subject. Talking about his casting choices, “Srujan Lokesh, a popular personality on the small screen, is known for his humour. I felt he was apt for the father’s role. Similarly, I chose Meghana Raj Sarja for the character as she hasn’t played such a role before,” says the director. He adds, “In addition, Achyuth Kumar plays a prominent role. With his character, we introduce the concept of a mobile deaddiction center, which I think will be most talked about in the future. We also have senior actor Dattanna and stand-up comedian Sudha Baragur playing pivotal characters.” Interestingly, the film is bankrolled by 80 parent...

Was a watch with family… The concept of gadget addiction is the need of the hour for not only kids but us adults too..🙂 The film has tried to create natural situations. Humor and performances are ok….could have been executed better..has conveyed a real existential message in a light hearted manner.

Selfie Mummy Googl Daddy Movie Review: Selfie Mummy Google Daddy

Surya (Srujan Lokesh) and Shalini(Meghana Raj) are a working couple with two kids. To relieve their children’s boredom and for their safety, they buy them mobile phones, but this turns out to be a disaster. The children are so addicted to their mobiles that they carry them to school and share their gaming apps with their peers. When this comes to the notice of the school principal and the school authorities, they insist that Surya and Shalini take their children’s transfer certificate as the problem is getting out of control. To add to their woes, even the grandparents are addicted to television shows. To overcome the crisis, the couple goes to a mobile de-addiction centre. Instead of children, it’s the parents who are counselled so that they can change their kids’ lives. Learning from his mistakes, Surya tries every trick in the book to get the kids interested in outdoor activities. Selfie Mummy Google Daddy touches upon mobile addiction which is a burning issue and how mobile companies want people to live with their cell phones. The first half shows how children fail to perform in studies and how they are lethargic, in a hilarious way. Achyuth Kumar holds forth on tackling screen addiction rather impressively. The latter half is about finding a solution. Director Madhu Chandra deserves credit for touching upon a subject which not many have explored, but the content lacks conviction. The chemistry between Srujan Lokesh and Meghana Raj works for the movie.
