Shahid Afridi will play for this team in PSL 2023

Former Pakistani player Shahid Afridi, who has been gaining experience as a mentor or coach in several cricketing tournaments lately, is willing to feature as a player in the upcoming edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL 2023). When asked about his choice of team to participate in, Afridi said he would go with the one who would make an offer. Everyone’s favourite Boom Boom, who could not continue PSL 7 stint for longer with Quetta Gladiators due to a back injury, says, “I have no idea where I will go. If a franchise offers, I will surely go along. I will work as it’s about Pakistan,” Afridi has represented four out of six HBL PSL franchises, including Karachi Kings, Peshawar Zalmi, Multan Sultans, and Quetta Gladiators. However, he is yet to don the jerseys of Lahore Qalandars and Islamabad United. When asked about his favourite PSL franchise to play with, the flamboyant all-rounder answered that he enjoyed time with Zalmi and mentioned Sultans as the next best, with whom he had an entertaining journey. Notably, he did not mention his time with Kings or Gladiators. “I had a really great time with Peshwar Zalmi. We had plans to give an opportunity to young talent, especially from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Secondly, I had fun during my stint with Multan Sultans. A professional team with good owners.” It must be noted that the PSL 8 draft is likely to take place on 18th November, with title-defenders Qalandars having the first pick. Many international players, counting above 3...

PSL 2023: Shahid Afridi schools Wasim Akram

Undated photos of Shahid Afridi and Wasim Akram. — Instagram/safridiofficial/wasimakramliveofficial Former Pakistan all-rounder Shahid Khan Afridi chastised former cricketer Wasim Akram after his team Karachi Kings lost three back-to-back matches during the ongoing eighth season of the PSL — Pakistan Super League. Akram should fulfil his responsibility and give time to Kings, said Afridi while speaking during a television show. "Wasim bhai should give time to Karachi Kings if he has taken its responsibility. It's not possible to lead the team from Australia. It's part of professionalism, you should give your time," he stressed. A change in leadership also didn't work for Kings as they lost three of their starting matches in PSL 8. Imad Wasim returned as captain after Babar Azam was traded with Shoaib Malik from Peshawar Zalmi. So far, Kings have lost to Peshawar Zalmi, Islamabad United and Quetta Gladiators, and broke their losing streak only after playing against Lahore Qalandars on Sunday. Multan Sultans lead points table Multan Sultans outclassed Islamabad United by 52 runs at the Multan Cricket Stadium on Sunday. Chasing a target of 191 runs, United were all out for 138 in 17.5 overs. Islamabad United, who at one stage were 112-4, lost their last six wickets for just 26 runs. Rassie van der Dussen top-scored with 49 runs in 32 balls, with the help of five fours and a six. Pacer Abbas Afridi was the pick of the bowlers for Sultans with figures of 4-22 in three overs.

Shahid Afridi reveals he scolded Mohammad Amir for on

By India Today Web Desk: Former all-rounder Shahid Afridi said that he was unhappy with Mohammad Amir’s on-field behaviour in the ongoing edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL). Amir was fired up when the Karachi Kings faced Babar Azam’s Peshawar Zalmi in Match No.4 on Thursday at the National Stadium in Karachi. Amir got into an altercation with rookie batter Hassan Nawaz. Thereafter, he threw the ball in anger at Babar, showing his anger and frustration. In the delivery prior to that, Babar hit Amir off his pads for a boundary in his knock. “Whenever a player doesn’t perform, or even if he does, I drop him a message for call him. Likewise, I messaged Amir yesterday. I talked to him respectfully, but I also scolded him. I told Amir, ‘what do you want?’ You have gained so much respect, you faced a blot on your reputation and from there, you made a return. You got a new life, in a way. What are you even trying to do?” Afridi was quoted as saying on Samaa TV. Afridi, who played for Peshawar Zalmi in the PSL 2023 exhibition match against Quetta Gladiators, reckoned that there’s no harm on being aggressive, but one should be in control. “Ye koi tareeka hai? (Is this the way to play?) There are juniors around you, you are using bad words. There are fans who are disheartened to see that. Even we have used such words and, sometimes, the camera used to catch us. There are families, kids watching you on television. Aggression is fine, but keep it under control,” he stated.
