Actor Sheezan Khan granted bail by Vasai court in Tunisha Sharma suicide case

MUMBAI: District and additional sessions Judge of the Vasai court, R D Deshpande, on Saturday granted bail to television actor Sheezan Khan, accused of abetment of suicide of his former girlfriend and co-star Tunisha Sharma. Khan has been in the Thane jail since December 31. He was arrested by the Valiv police, a day after Tunisha was found hanging in the washroom of Khan's make-up room in a studio in Naigaon on December 24, 2022. Khan had moved a second bail application on February 20, after the Valiv police filed a over 500 pages chargesheet against the actor on February 16. Khan is charged with abetment of suicide of Tunisha, after her mother Vanita filed a complaint with the Valiv police. His first bail plea was rejected by the Vasai court on January 19. The arguments for and against the bail plea concluded on Thursday. While Tunisha's lawyer and the state opposed the bail, Khan's advocate said that as the chargesheet has been filed and there is no case against him, he should be released on bail.

Sharma, 21, was found dead during the shooting of the serial, “Ali Baba: Dastaan-E-Kabul” on the morning of December 24, 2022, and a day later, Khan, 27 was nabbed for alleged abetment of her suicide, which sparked a huge controversy. Sharma committed suicide on the sets of the teleserial erected at Naigaon in Vasai town after which the Waliv Police Station arrested Sheezan Khan on charges of abetment. Khan and Sharma were in a relationship but had broken off just a couple of weeks before the latter’s death, ostensibly caused as she was in a deeply disturbed state of mind. Mumbai: The Vasai court on Saturday granted bail to television actor Sheezan Khan who had been arrested by the Waliv police for allegedly abetting the suicide of his co-actor and former girlfriend Tunisha Sharma. In their chargesheet, the Waliv police claimed that it was the 10-minute conversation between Sheezan and Tunisha in his dressing room just before her suicide that caused her to take her own life. The chargesheet also contained evidence like the CCTV camera recordings of their meeting before her suicide. (HT PHOTO) Khan has been granted bail on a personal bond of ₹1 lakh and one or two sureties in the same amount. According to advocate Tarun Sharma, appointed by Tunisha’s family, the magistrate court has by way of bail conditions asked Sheezan to surrender his passport to the investigating officer and not to leave Mumbai without prior permission of the court and attend the court proceedings regularly. The court has also asked Sheezan to refrain from trying to influence witnesses or manipulate evidence. On December 24, Tunisha was found hanging in the bathroom of the set minutes after she gave her shot and spoke to Sheezan. When she did not turn up for her shot again, her colleagues broke open the door of the bathroom to find her hanging with a crepe bandage. A court in Maharashtra’s Palghar district on Friday rejected the bail application of actor Sheezan Khan, arrested for allegedly abetting the suicide of his co-actor Tunisha Sharma. Additional Sessions Judge R D Deshpande refused to grant relief to the 28-year-old, who was arrested on December 25 and is now in judicial custody. Advocates Shailendra Mishra and Sharad Rai appeared for Khan before the Vasai court. Advocate Tarun Sharma, who represented Tunisha’s family, opposed bail to the actor, and told the court that Khan’s mother was also involved in the matter. He had submitted an application to the Mira-Bhayandar, Vasai-Virar police commissioner to make Khan’s mother a co-accused in the case, advocate Sharma further said. Palghar: A court in Palghar district of Maharashtra on Wednesday adjourned till January 13 the hearing on the bail plea of TV actor Sheezan Khan, arrested for allegedly abetting the suicide of his co-actor Tunisha Sharma. Tunisha Sharma (21), who had acted in the TV show 'Ali Baba: Dastaan-E-Kabul' along with Khan, was found dead in the washroom on the set of the Hindi serial near Vasai, located on the outskirts of Mumbai, on December 24, 2022. The late actor was in a relationship with Khan but they broke up later. Khan (28) was arrested on December 25 by the Vasai police on the charge of abetting the suicide of Sharma. On Wednesday, advocate Tarun Sharma, representing complainant Vanita Sharma, opposed the bail application saying the offence was a serious one. Palghar: A court in Vasai in Maharashtra's Palghar district that gave bail to actor Sheezan Khan in the Tunisha Sharma suicide case has said there was no need to keep him in jail since the probe was complete and chargesheet filed. In his order of Saturday, details of which were made available on Sunday, Additional Sessions Judge RD Deshpande said Mr Khan's presence for the hearings can be ensured through certain bail conditions as well as obtaining heavy surety from him. MsSharma allegedly died by suicide by hanging herself on December 24, 2022, on the sets of a TV serial near Valiv in Palghar. Mr Khan (28) was arrested the next day for abetment of suicide on a complaint lodged by Ms Sharma's mother. "After completion of investigation and filing of chargesheet, I do not find any special circumstances to keep this applicant (Khan) behind the bars. The say filed by the prosecution nowhere contemplates any sufficient grounds for which the applicant is to be detained behind bars," the judge said in the order. In his submission to court, Mr Khan's counsel Shailendra Mishra said even if it was assumed his client withdrew from the relationship with the dead, refusal on his part to restore this relationship would not go on to satisfy ingredients of abetment. Bombay High Court orders actor Sheezan Khan’s bail plea to be dealt with in two weeks

Khan had earlier filed a bail application as well as a petition by which he was seeking quashing of the FIR registered against him in the Bombay High Court. The bench at that time asked him to pursue his bail plea first. However, in the meantime, the investigating agency filed a chargesheet against Khan. So, Khan withdrew that bail plea filed before the Bombay High Court and filed it in the Vasai Sessions Court, which had earlier rejected his bail application. In the high court on Thursday, Khan’s lawyers, Shailendra Mishra and Sharad Rai, told the bench that since there was a change in the circumstances due to the filing of the chargesheet, they had approached the Sessions court again and the hearing was slated for the afternoon. They, however, requested the court to order the lower court to hear the bail plea expeditiously as it had been two months since Khan had been arrested. The hearing on the actor's bail plea filed in the sessions court in Vasai town will take place on January 7, Khan's lawyer Sharad Rai said. Rai said Khan, in his plea, has prayed to the court that he be granted bail as he was innocent and had been arrested in the case just on the basis of suspicion.

Sheezan Khan’s lawyer appeals to Bombay High Court for the actor’s bail in Tunisha Sharma’s Case

Tunisha Sharma died by suicide and Sheezan Khan, her co-star from Alibaba- Daastaan-e-Kabul was arrested for abetment to suicide. The investigation in the case is still on-going. Tunisha’s mother is of the opinion that Sheezan should be blamed for the same. Sheezan has been in judicial custody and his sisters Falaq and Shafaq Naaz and mother are trying to prove him innocent. Now the latest update suggests that reportedly, Sheezan’s lawyer has moved to Bombay High Court. Shailendra Mishra, his lawyer has moved to the higher court after Vasai court rejected the bail appeal. There are two pleas registered, one seeking to quash the FIR against the actor and the second one, seeking bail. Reported by another portal, the court appeal was held on 23rd January and the court directed Sheezan’s lawyer to serve Tunisha’s mother with a notice to appear in court on the 30th January for the next hearing.
