The MP also claimed that a new national committee has been appointed replacing the one appointed by Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray. However, the Shinde faction spokesperson Deepak Kesarkar has denied the formation of any national committee replacing the existing one appointed by The purported move to form a separate group of 12 Shiv Sena MPs comes weeks after a rebellion of 40 MLAs led by Shinde caused the collapse of the Uddhav Thackeray-led government. The Shiv Sena has 19 MPs in Lok Sabha, including 18 from Maharashtra. The MP also claimed that Shiv Sena leaders Anandrao Adsul and Ramdas Kadam, who quit their posts, have been "reinstated" as leaders by the rebel faction. Former MP Shivajirao Adhalrao Patil, and former ministers Gulabrao Patil and Uday Samant have been appointed as deputy leaders of the Shive Sena, the MP claimed. The Shiv Sena has sought disqualification of some rebel MLAs and the matter is pending before the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court is scheduled to hear on July 20 a batch of pleas pertaining to the recent happenings in Maharashtra that led to the fall of the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government. Kesarkar, however, denied the claim of the Shiv Sena MP. "There is no truth that we have formed a separate national committee. We are in favour of the unification of the party again," Kesa...

Shiv Sena spokesperson Sheetal Mhatre joins Shinde camp; party MPs urge Uddhav to mend ties with reb

On Tuesday night, Mhatre along with some Shiv Sena workers visited Shinde's residence and expressed her support to him. The Uddhav Thackeray-led Sena had appointed Mhatre as the 'sampark sanghatak' (coordinator) for the Alibaug-Pen area. The crucial elections for the Sena-controlled Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) are slated to be held in the next few months. Shinde's rebellion last month led to the collapse of the Uddhav Thackeray-led Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government. He was sworn in as the chief minister on June 30 with Bharatiya Janata Party's Devendra Fadnavis as the deputy CM. Meanwhile, Shiv Sena Members of Parliament (MPs) have urged Uddhav to mend ties with Shinde and former ally Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), a party MP said on Tuesday. Stressing for an alliance, the MPs have conveyed to Thackeray that the BJP was a "natural ally" of the Shiv Sena unlike the "unnatural alliance" of the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA), Sena MP Hemant Godse said. The MVA comprised Shiv Sena, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), and Congress. The Shiv Sena MPs raised this issue on Monday during their meeting with Thackeray at his private residence in Mumbai. The meeting was attended by 13 of the 18 MPs from Maharashtra--- three had taken consent from the party to skip the meeting. Talking to PTI, Godse, who represents the Nashik Lok Sabha constituency, accused the NCP of trying to create obstacles in projects in the constituencies held by Shiv Sena. "The Shiv Sena-BJP alliance was a n...

'Shiv Sena MPs had asked Uddhav Thackeray to revive ties with BJP': Shinde camp member

Barne was part of the 12-member separate group of MPs formed by the rebel faction of the Shiv Sena. The breakaway group is led by Mumbai South Central MP Rahul Shewale in the Lok Sabha. Barne, a two-term Sena MP, was welcomed by a large number of supporters at the Pune airport after he returned from New Delhi. Speaking to reporters, Barne said he along with some other MPs had asked Thackeray to once again ally with the BJP. "However, Uddhavji Thackeray was not in favour of snapping ties with the NCP and the Congress. So considering the future, the Shiv Sena will be with the BJP going forward," he said. The Sena, the Congress and the NCP were part of the Maha Vikas Agahdi (MVA) government that collapsed in end-June following a revolt by Shinde and MLAs supporting him. Barne said he has been representing Maval in the Lok Sabha for the last eight years and the BJP had a major share in his victory in 2014 and 2019 general elections. "The BJP had 60 per cent to 70 per cent share in my victory from the Maval constituency. I never criticised the policies of the (BJP-led central) government," he said. Barne said Shewale told Thackeray on behalf of Sena MPs that when general elections took place in 2014 and 2019, on both occasions, Prime Minister Narendra Modi was the face of the BJP-led NDA's campaign. "We told Uddhavji that in 2024 (polls) also, PM Modi will be the face," he said. Besides Barne, senior Shiv Sena leaders from Pune district like Vijay Shivtare and Shivajirao Adhalr...

Shiv Sena: 22 MLAs & 9 MPs in mood to leave Eknath Shinde faction

MUMBAI: In an attack on those of its elected representatives who joined the Saamna also claimed 22 MLAs and nine MPs from the Shinde group are in a dilemma due to the “misbehavior” of BJP, and it has also been reported that all of them are in the mood to leave the CM’s faction. The Sena (UBT) further claimed deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis had become the driver of the Shinde faction’s car, which meant the strings of government were with BJP. Saamna said, “It cannot be said when they will cause an accident to Fadnavis’s car and put an end to the Shinde faction. The BJP is not ready to count on the Shinde faction even in mathematics. The question arises about the humiliating treatment received from the BJP. The Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena severed ties with the BJP over the same issue of misbehaviour. Shiv Sena means the self-respect of Maharashtra, and it was unbearable to continue by compromising on self-respect.” The Sena (UBT) said earlier, activities of putting Sena leaders in trouble were done secretly. “The face is one, but the masks are different. That is, (the idea is) to sit in the driving seat to drive the car and cause an accident in such a way that the driver is safe. That is why Shiv Sena chose to distance itself from the BJP,” the editorial stated.

Uddhav Thackeray: Shiv Sena MPs back CM Uddhav Thackeray, but ask him to assess 2024 poll prospects

MUMBAI: Chief minister Uddhav Thackeray met with Sena MP Gajanan Kirtikar dismissed rumours of any differences of opinion between the MPs and the party chief. “Two MPs did not turn up as expected but all 16 others were present. There are rumours about MPs also planning to rebel but they are all bogus,” Kirtikar said. Two MPs, Shrikant Shinde, son of rebel leader Eknath Shinde, and MP Bhavana Gawli did not attend the meeting. Maharashtra political crisis: Shiv Sena strategises, lays ground for long war ahead Shiv Sena has decided to prepare for the long haul. While fighting a legal and technical battle with the Eknath Shinde camp is top priority, Sena has chalked out plans to secure its party organisation from any poaching from the Shinde camp along with its frontal organisations. Sources said a section of MPs were keen that the leadership explore ways to bring the rebels back into the fold and consider the possibility of re-aligning with the BJP. “The MPs said they are with the Sena and Uddhav saheb. But some of them were worried about future electoral prospects minus the BJP. They also said that minus the BJP, it may become difficult for MPs to win elections easily. So they have put across all the points and apprised the leadership,” a Sena functionary said. Why Shiv Sena MPs are restless

On July 5, Shiv Sena Lok Sabha MP Rahul Shewale demanded that the party support Draupadi Murmu, the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) candidate in the presidential election slated for July 18. Shewale, who represents Mumbai South-Central, called on Shiv Sena leader Uddhav Thackeray at the party’s headquarters in Dadar and personally handed over a letter underlining his demand. In his letter Shewale said the Sena should support Murmu as she represents the tribal community. “In the past, Shiv Sena had voted for a woman candidate Pratibha Patil and later for Pranab Mukherjee as well, going against the NDA. This time, we should vote in favour of NDA candidate.” Shewale’s letter is being seen as an example of uneasiness among Shiv Sena’s MPs after the party witnessed the biggest coup in its history in last week of June. A rebel Eknath Shinde became the chief minister of Maharashtra with the support of other 39 MLAs and the BJP as well. The Shinde faction’s claim that it did not revolt but had a mutiny is finding resonance among the MPs too. Several Shiv Sena MPs are caught in a Catch-22 situation to save their political careers. Almost all Shiv Sena MLAs outside Mumbai have joined the Shinde camp. The MPs will need their support to get re-elected in 2024. In Buldana, MP Pratap Jadhav is banking on MLAs Sanjay Raimulkar and Sanjay Gaikwad for another term. In Hingoli, MP Hemant Patil, known as a staunch Hindutva supporter, has a direct fight with the Nationalist Congress Party ...

Modi govt doesn’t treat us as equals, crib Shinde MPs

Shiv Sena MPs met with Chief Minister Eknath Shinde to discuss issues such as the forthcoming civic body elections and their treatment as NDA partners. They also want their seats to be retained in the seat-sharing arrangement with the BJP and more funds. The MPs are also developing a strategy for local self-government polls and aim to win in Mumbai and Thane. MUMBAI: Shiv Sena MPs had a meeting with Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Wednesday evening at his bungalow to discuss various issues, including the forthcoming civic body elections. The chief grouse that came up was that they were not being given equal treatment as NDA partners by the union government. “We are now a part of the NDA, yet we are not treated on par with the others,” said veteran leader Gajanan Kirtikar. “We must get more funds and egalitarian treatment.” HT Image After the split in the Shiv Sena last June, 13 MPs joined the Shinde-led faction. Recognised as the official party by the Election Commission of India, they also took over the parliamentary office of the Shiv Sena. Now the MPs want their seats to be retained in the seat-sharing arrangement with the BJP, and to this end want a promise from both Shinde and the BJP. They also demanded the BJP’s active participation in campaigning when the elections come up. “We want the CM to take up the issue,” some of them said at the meeting. The MPs also discussed the local self-government polls, which are overdue in the state. The Shinde Sena is chalking out a...
