Sexual and Reproductive Health and Research (SRH)

26 October 2016 Global plan of action to strengthen the role of the health system within a national multisectoral response to address interpersonal violence, in particular against women and girls, and against children Global plan of action to strengthen the role of the health system within a national multisectoral response to address interpersonal violence, in particular against women and girls, and against children

Universal access to sexual and reproductive health:

The WHO has released two new tools offering evidence-based strategies to support the effective and efficient integration of sexual reproductive health (SRH) services within national primary health care (PHC) strategies to advance progress towards (UHC). Health systems that achieve UHC and the health-related Sustainable Development Goals rely heavily on a solid foundation of PHC. The majority of SRH services, such as antenatal and post-natal care, contraception and abortion care, can be provided through PHC. However almost everyone of reproductive age—about 4.3 billion people—will not have access to at least one essential reproductive health intervention over the course of their lives. More examples and clear ways to implement service delivery are needed. Because integrating SRH within PHC for UHC requires both political commitment, as well as defined and coherent strategies, these practical tools aim to help decision-makers, programme managers, implementers, civil society, researchers, and wider health systems communities. Handbook The first tool is a handbook For effective and integrated SRH, the handbook calls for identifying the rights and responsibilities of the target groups; monitoring implementation of national action plans; ensuring sufficient resources; informing and supporting health care providers; and making health systems more adaptive. This piece of work also highlights examples of innovative ways SRH services have been integrated in national PHC strategies a...

Sunrisers Hyderabad Team

History Despite inheriting a team (the new owners retained 20 players from the Chargers squad, including Kumar Sangakkara as captain) Sunrisers took some time to form a stable core. In the first two years they trialled four captains, Sangakkara, Cameron White, Daren Sammy and Shikhar Dhawan. While their bowling proved their stronger suit in general, they struggled to find their best XI. Sunrisers began to shape their own identity in 2015, when David Warner was made captain. The team finished sixth that year, but unlike his predecessors, Warner retained the captaincy on the back of his own strong performances. In 2016 he led Sunrisers to their maiden title, and the quartet of Warner, head coach Tom Moody, mentor VVS Laxman and bowling coach Muthiah Muralidaran worked like a well-oiled machine over the next few years. During this period Rashid Khan too became an integral part of the side. In 2020, Trevor Bayliss replaced Moody as head coach. However, he left at the end of a dismal 2021 season during which Warner was dropped from the side and Kane Williamson took over the captaincy. The season marked the end of Sunrisers' association with Warner and Rashid. Laxman, meanwhile, left to take charge at the BCCI's National Cricket Academy. Moody, who had returned as director of cricket ahead of the 2021 season, took over as head coach again in 2022, but was replaced by Brian Lara later that year. 2016 - champions Their maiden IPL title. Warner was once again at the forefront, and ...

Adolescent Sexual and Reproductive Health

Our Work in Adolescent Sexual & Reproductive Health (ASRH) Adolescence represents a critical window of opportunity when young people learn to make independent decisions and form their own attitudes and beliefs. Save the Children works to ensure that adolescents, regardless of gender, have access to comprehensive sexual and reproductive health (SRH) information and services, and the supportive and gender-equitable families and communities that they need to be the leaders of today and tomorrow. Our Age- and Life-Stage Tailored Sexual and Reproductive Health Approaches Our programs target adolescents in critical periods of their lives: during young adolescence and as first-time and young parents. Very young adolescents (VYAs; ages 10-14), are a group often neglected in global health programs. Our programs fill a critical information and service gap and equip young adolescents with the ability to navigate challenges and opportunities during puberty. We work with first-time and young parents, and their families and communities, to improve their health and well-being. All of our life-stage programs foster the development of positive social and gender norms, build linkages to health systems, and increase access to reproductive, maternal, and newborn health services. Equitable Social and Gender Norms and Healthy Behaviors Save the Children leads the way in developing innovative social and behavior change activities that engage adolescents and their parents, partners, and communiti...

12 questions and answers about sexual and reproductive health and rights

About Sexual and reproductive health (SRH) education is a lifelong journey. Every year, the onset of adolescence changes the bodies of millions of girls and boys. Access to quality sexual and reproductive health information and services plays a crucial role in safeguarding the well-being of each adolescent, preparing them for a safe, productive and satisfying life, and also in protecting them from diseases, unwanted pregnancies, and human rights abuses, including gender-based violence and discrimination. This is particularly important for those who are on the move or living in a situation of forced displacement. On the occasion of World Sexual health Day, UNFPA, the United Nation Population Fund, and UNICEF, the United Nations Children's Fund, launch a youth-friendly brochure on sexual and reproductive health and rights, specifically targeting young people, including migrant and refugee girls and boys in Italy, with the aim to provide them with useful information on SRH and available services. The transition from adolescence to adulthood involves biological-physical, socio-emotional and cognitive changes that are common to all human beings. Migrant and refugee adolescents must also contend with the transition related to life on the move, which detaches them from their origins and imposes the need to build a new life in a different cultural and social environment. Specific support will help to make their way to a healthier future through services that respect their diverse ...
