A statue built in the memory of Sant Sri Ramanujacharya The Statue of Equality, in Telangana, is a 216 feet Ramanujacharya statue made of panchaloha. The structure installed at Muchintal near Hyderabad would be “dedicated to the world” by PM Modi on 5th Feb 2022, to mark the 1,000 years since the birth of the Hindu reformist saint. About The Statue of Equality • The Statue is made of a combination of five metals called ‘Panchaloha’, which includes gold, silver, copper, brass, and zinc. • The statue is the world’s second tallest statue in a sitting posture. The Buddha statue in Thailand, at 301 feet, takes the spot as the world’s tallest ‘sitting’ statue. • Mounted on a 54-ft high base building, named ‘Bhadra Vedi’, the basement features a Vedic digital library and research centre. • The building also hosts numerous ancient Indian texts, a theatre, an educational gallery detailing many works of Ramanujacharya inside. • A temple of Ramanujacharya covering an area of about 300,000 square feet has also been constructed, where a 120 kg gold idol will be placed for daily worship. The wide street glows like a pearl necklace in the evenings with walkers, hawkers, ice cream carts and all the locals enjoying the beautiful views of the lake. There are a number of lake-facing restaurants, shops and cafes especially on Eat Street, which overlook the monolithic statue of Gautam Buddha that separates Hyderabad from Secunderabad. Home to a variety of parks and gardens, heritage architectural areas and temples, Hussain Sagar Lake is Hyderabad’s favourite kid-friendly hub in the city. Carved out of single slab of granite this 58 feet statue is the biggest monolithic statue of Buddha in the country. Take a mechanized boat ( tickets cost only Rs.50) from Lumbini park to alight at the Gibraltar rock on which the statue stands. There is a nice walkaway around the statue. Fees for cameras are a steep Rs. 1000 but you can take pictures with your mobile for free! You get to spend ten minutes here before the boat takes you back to the park. The Statue of Equality is the second tallest sitting statue in the world at its height of 216 ft. Located in Muchintal, Hyderabad, it is a statue of Sri Bhagavad Ramanujacharya, who worked relentlessly to promote equality. It was built to commemorate his 1000th birthday. The highlights are the dancing water show with light and music and the dynamic fountain show (Leela Jala Neerjanam) held daily. There are 108 steps leading to the statue whichprovide stunning panoramic views.
