Surah Duha With English Transliteration & Translation. Revealed At Makkah *** Bismillaahir Rahmaanir Raheem بِسْمِ اللَّـهِ الرَّحْمَـٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful. *** 1.Wadduhaa وَالضُّحَىٰ (VERSE NO1) . By the Glorious Morning Light, *** 2. Wallayli izaa sajaa. وَاللَّيْلِ إِذَا سَجَىٰ (VERSE NO2) . And by the Night when it is still, *** 3. Maa wadda’aka Rabbuka wa maa qalaa. مَا وَدَّعَكَ رَبُّكَ وَمَا قَلَىٰ (VERSE NO3) . The Guardian-Lord hath not forsaken thee, nor is He displeased. *** 4. Wa lal-Aakhiratu khay rul-laka minal-oolaa. وَلَلْآخِرَةُ خَيْرٌ لَكَ مِنَ الْأُولَىٰ (VERSE NO4) . And verily the Hereafter will be better for thee than the present. *** 5. Wa la-sawfa yu’teeka Rabbuka fatardaa. وَلَسَوْفَ يُعْطِيكَ رَبُّكَ فَتَرْضَىٰ (VERSE NO5) . And soon will thy Guardian Lord give thee (that wherewith) thou shalt be well-pleased. *** 6. Alam yajidka yateeman fa-aawaa. أَلَمْ يَجِدْكَ يَتِيمًا فَآوَىٰ (VERSE NO6) . Did He not find thee an orphan and give thee shelter (and care)? *** 7. Wa wajadaka ḍaaallan fahadaa. وَوَجَدَكَ ضَالًّا فَهَدَىٰ (VERSE NO7) . And He found thee wandering, and He gave thee guidance. *** 8. Wa wajadaka ‘aaa’ilan fa aghnaa. وَوَجَدَكَ عَائِلًا فَأَغْنَىٰ (VERSE NO8) . And He found thee in need, and made thee independent. *** 9.Fa-ammal-yateema falaa taqhar. فَأَمَّا الْيَتِيمَ فَلَا تَقْهَرْ (VERSE NO9) . Therefore, treat not the orphan with harshness, *** 10. SCROLL TO RESUME CONTENT 1. وَالضُّحٰىۙ waḍ-ḍuḥā Demi waktu duha (ketika matahari naik sepenggalah), 2. وَالَّيْلِ اِذَا سَجٰىۙ wal-laili iżā sajādan Demi malam apabila telah sunyi, 3. مَا وَدَّعَكَ رَبُّكَ وَمَا قَلٰىۗ mā wadda'aka rabbuka wa mā qalā Tuhanmu tidak meninggalkan engkau (Muhammad) dan tidak (pula) membencimu, 4. وَلَلْاٰخِرَةُ خَيْرٌ لَّكَ مِنَ الْاُوْلٰىۗ wa lal-ākhiratu khairul laka minal-ụlādan Sungguh, yang kemudian itu lebih baik bagimu dari yang permulaan. 5. وَلَسَوْفَ يُعْطِيْكَ رَبُّكَ فَتَرْضٰىۗ wa lasaufa yu'ṭīka rabbuka fa tarḍā Dan sungguh, kelak Tuhanmu pasti memberikan karunia-Nya kepadamu, sehingga engkau menjadi puas. 6. اَلَمْ يَجِدْكَ يَتِيْمًا فَاٰوٰىۖ a lam yajidka yatīman fa āwāBukankah Dia mendapatimu sebagai seorang yatim, lalu Dia melindungi(mu), 7. وَوَجَدَكَ ضَاۤلًّا فَهَدٰىۖ wa wajadaka ḍāllan fa hadādan Dia mendapatimu sebagai seorang yang bingung, lalu Dia memberikan petunjuk, 8. وَوَجَدَكَ عَاۤىِٕلًا فَاَغْنٰىۗ wa wajadaka 'ā`ilan fa agnādan Dia mendapatimu sebagai seorang yang kekurangan, lalu Dia memberikan kecukupan. 9. فَاَمَّا الْيَتِيْمَ فَلَا تَقْهَرْۗ fa ammal-yatīma fa lā taq-har Maka terhadap anak yatim janganlah engkau berlaku sewenang-wenang. 10. وَاَمَّا السَّاۤىِٕلَ فَلَا تَنْهَرْ wa ammas-sā`ila fa lā tan-har Dan terhadap orang yang meminta-minta janganlah engkau menghardik(nya). 11. وَاَمَّا بِنِعْمَةِ رَبِّكَ فَحَدِّثْ wa ammā bini'mati rabbika fa ḥaddiṡ Dan terhadap nikmat Tuhanmu hendaklah engkau nyatakan (de...

by Amani Iqbal Many of us know surah ad-duha off by heart and have probably read its meaning many times as well, which seems quite straightforward. How many of us, though, have actually gone into the reason behind its revelation and derived the lessons and implications this surah has in our lives? This surah was revealed to Prophet Muhammad (saw) at a time when he had not received any revelation for six months, not even in the form of a dream! The Prophet (saw) was in a very disturbed state of mind, feeling negative and depressed and believing that Allah was displeased with him, had forgotten him, and did not want him as a Nabi anymore. Don’t we have similar feelings in our lives? Times when our level of imaan is low, our khushoo in salah wavers and we feel a drop in our connection with Allah? We feel like our duas are not being answered, our salah is not having a positive impact on our hearts, and worst of all the feeling that we’re horrible human beings, that Allah doesn’t love us or doesn’t care about us anymore. Surah Ad-Duha was revealed to the Prophet (saw) to relieve him of these negative feelings and to give him hope, positivity, and the assurance that Allah is with him no matter what. بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَـنِ الرَّحِيمِ (In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. The Reason for the Revelation of Surat Ad-Duha Imam Ahmad recorded from Jundub that he said, "The Prophet became ill, so he did not stand for prayer for a night or two. Then a woman came and said, `O Muhammad! I think that your devil has finally left you.' So Allah revealed, وَالضُّحَى - وَالَّيْلِ إِذَا سَجَى - مَا وَدَّعَكَ رَبُّكَ وَمَا قَلَى (By the forenoon. By the night when it darkens. Your Lord has neither forsaken you nor hates you.)" Al-Bukhari, Muslim, At-Tirmidhi, An-Nasa'i, Ibn Abi Hatim and Ibn Jarir, all recorded this Hadith. This Jundub (who narrated it) is Ibn `Abdullah Al-Bajali Al-`Alaqi. In a narration from Al-Aswad bin Qays, he said that he heard Jundub say that Jibril was slow in coming to the Messenger of Allah . So the idolators said, "Muhammad's Lord has abandoned him." So Allah revealed, وَالضُّحَى - وَالَّيْلِ إِذَا سَجَى (By the forenoon. By the night when it darkens.) Al-`Awfi reported from Ibn `Abbas, "When the Qur'an was revealed to the Messenger of Allah , Jibril was delayed from coming to him for a number of days (on one occasion). Therefore, the Messenger of Allah was affected by this. Then the idolators began to say, `His Lord has abandoned him and hates him.'
