Surya, the chief of the Navagraha ( the nine Classical planets) and important elements of Hindu astrology, is the main solar deity in Hinduism and generally referred to as the Sun in Nepal and India. He is often depicted riding a chariot harnessed by seven horses which might represent the seven colors of the rainbow or the seven chakras in the body. He is also the presiding deity of Sunday. The Sun God is shown with 4 hands, three of which are carrying a wheel, a conch-shell and a lotus respectively and the fourth is see in the Abhay Mudra. Being the source of warmth and light, he has the ability to control the seasons and the power to withhold or grant the ripening of the crops. As the economy is mainly agricultural based, the Sun is placed amongst the highest of the Gods, especially for the agricultural communities. He is also known as the “pratyakshadaivam” – the only God visible to us every day. The Sun God is “Karma Sakshi”, who has eternal wisdom and knowledge. Surya ke Prakar: रविवार का दिन भगवान सूर्य की उपासना का दिन माना जाता है. सूर्य देवता को प्रत्यक्ष देवता के रूप में भी माना जाता है. सूर्य को ग्रहों का राजा और आत्मा का प्रतीक भी माना जाता है. इसीलिए ऐसे व्यक्ति जिनका आत्मविश्वास कमजोर होता है उन्हें सूर्य देवता की पूजा करने की सलाह दी जाती है. हमारे वेदों और अन्य ग्रंथों में सूर्य के 12 नाम बताए गए हैं और सूर्य के ये 12 नाम उनकी अलग-अलग विशेषताओं के आधार पर रखे गए हैं. सूर्य के इन्हीं 12 नामों का जाप सूर्य भगवान की पूजा के लिए किया जाता है जो इस प्रकार हैं- • आदित्य - भगवान सूर्य, ऋषि कश्यप और अदिति के पुत्र होने कारण, माता अदिति के नाम पर इनका नाम सूर्य रखा गया है. अदिति का अर्थ होता है- जो राग-द्वेष से ऊपर हो और जिस पर किसी का वश न चलता हो. • दिनकर - दिन का स्वामी या दिन की शुरुआत सूर्य से होने के कारण, सूर्य को दिनकर भी कहा जाता है. • दिवाकर - दिवाकर का अर्थ होता है रात या अन्धकार को ख़त्म करने वाला. मतलब जिसके आते ही अन्धकार ख़त्म हो जाय उसको सूर्य कहा जाता है. • भानू - भानू का मतलब ऐसे अलौकिक तेज से होता है जिसका लाभ हर एक को मिलता हो. इसी अलौकिक तेज के कारण सूर्य को भानू भी कहा जाता है. • रवि - कहते हैं कि ब्रह्माण्ड की शुरुआत जिस दिन हुई थी उस दिन रविवार था. इसीलिए हफ्ते की शुरुआत भी रविवार से ही होती है और भगवान सूर्य को रवि नाम से भी जाना जाता है. • प्रभाकर - प्रभा का अर्थ होता है प्रातःकाल और यही वह समय होता है जब सूर्य संसार में विद्यमान होते हैं. इसीलिए इन्हें प्रभाकर भी कहा जाता है. • रश्मि मते - इसमें दो शब्द हैं. जिसमें रश्मि का अर्थ होता है प्रकाश और मते का अर्थ होता है पुंज. अर्थात जिसके भीतर हजारों की संख्...
