Taskin Ahmed Profile

Even before he was anywhere near making his international debut, Taskin Ahmed became an internet sensation. A video of his spell against England Under-19s in 2012 found its way to Youtube, and the sight of a Bangladeshi fast bowler ripping it past batsman and hitting the wicketkeeper's gloves quite hard and high made people curious. Taskin is a tall fast bowler, with a body structure slightly akin to Mashrafe Mortaza. He bowls with a high-arm action, after coming in from a smooth run-up. He is a product of Dhaka's cricket academy scene, having learned his craft at the Abahani ground nets, living nearby in Mohammadpur. He burst into the domestic scene with a four-wicket haul in the 2013 BPL, but he suffered a knee injury soon after which kept him sidelined for nearly a year. He went through rehabilitation work during the time, and as he slowly recovered, Taskin bowled in the Bangladesh nets regularly. The coaching staff was impressed by his ability, and kept him in the radar for a very long time, until they found the right time to blood him. Taskin made his T20 debut for Bangladesh in the World T20, and has been retained in the ODI squad for the India series in June 2014. Taskin Ahmed stars with 4/25 against Netherlands as Bangladesh win

Bangladesh ended their 16-match winless streak in the Round 2 of men’s T20 World Cup with a narrow nine runs win over the Netherlands in Hobart on Monday. Taskin Ahmed produced a devastating display of seam bowling to help Bangladesh make a comeback after they failed to put on a competitive total on the board after being put into bat in overcast conditions. Taskin Ahmed ended with figures of 4 for 25 in four overs as the Netherlands fell short by nine runs. The ball was seaming around, making Taskin and Hasan Mahmud (2/15) all the more lethal. Taskin provided a dream start with a couple of wickets off the first two balls of the innings. Taskin set the tone for Bangladesh and was on a hat-trick in the first over by removing Vikramjeet Singh and Bas de Leede for ducks. Singh edged the first ball to Yasir Ali, who plucked it inches above the ground at the first slip. Next up, he induced De Leede’s edge and wicketkeeper Nurul Hasan took a diving catch to his right. Bangladesh were off to a flying start as their openers Najmul Hossain Shanto (25) and Soumya Sarkar (14) put on 43 runs in five overs. But a change of ends for Van Meekeren did the trick for the Dutch as the pacer produced the vital breakthrough of Sarkar that brought on the imminent collapse. They lost five wickets in the next six overs. Afif Hossain (38 off 27) added 44 runs for the sixth wicket with Nurul Hasan to steady the ship. Atif held the innings together at one end with his valiant knock after Bangladesh’s...

Tamim’s fitness a concern for Bangladesh ahead of Afghanistan Test

Tamim’s fitness a concern for Bangladesh ahead of Afghanistan Test The hosts are already missing star all-rounder and skipper Shakib Al Hasan, who has been nursing a finger injury, and there are also doubts whether pace bowler Taskin Ahmed will play. Published : Jun 13, 2023 15:56 IST , Dhaka - 2 MINS READ Bangladesh will see how opening batter Tamim Iqbal gets on during practice before deciding if he is fit to play in the one-off Test against Afghanistan in Dhaka starting Wednesday. The hosts are already missing star all-rounder and skipper Shakib Al Hasan, who has been nursing a finger injury, and there are also doubts whether pace bowler Taskin Ahmed will play. The availability of Tamim, one of Bangladesh’s most experienced players and posting an average of 38.89 with the bat, will depend how his back is after practice. “I think he is going to train today and see how he feels,” coach Chandika Hathurusingha said on Tuesday. “He trained the day before and he had some discomfort when he was doing certain disciplines, fielding and batting. So he’s going to train today, and we will assess him after training.” Where India lost the WTC final against Australia at the Oval If Tamim does not make it, Zakir Hasan and Mahmudul Hasan could open the batting for Bangladesh. Hathurusingha also refused to guarantee the inclusion of Taskin despite him recovering from a side injury that ruled him out of Bangladesh’s last Test, a seven-wicket win over Ireland in April. With the Asia Cup an...

SA vs BAN

Later in the innings, he removed Pretorius, David Miller and Kagiso Rabada, all caught behind in the space of his ten balls. Miller was caught down the leg side. Unlucky, you might say, but take a closer look at the balls leading up to that wicket. It was the perfect set up. Taskin bowled nice and tight around the off stump, and then cornered Miller with a surprise short ball. "When I come into bowling at any time in the innings, I ask the captain, ' Bhai what does the situation demand?' I try to bowl according to that situation. I try to bowl fast and aggressive, to take wickets. I stick to the process. I won't get wickets if I bowl ulta palta (here and there). I have to stick to a good line and length, and bowl to my strength which is to bowl fast. So far it has been, by Allah's Grace," he said. This is the same Taskin whose pace dropped into the 120s kph in Sri Lanka three years ago. The selectors forgot about him despite good performances in subsequent BPL campaigns. So he decided to make them all sit up and take notice. First came the focus on fitness. Then discipline. And now the results. "Taskin's hard work is paying off," Tamim said. "We can see his hard work because he puts a lot of videos on Instagram (smiles). I think everyone works hard. Sometimes they don't get the results, but Taskin's change of mindset has paid off. I hope he continues to do this. He pulls me into the gym when I don't want to do it. We need this type of characters in the team." Taskin is one ...

Ipl 2022: Taskin Ahmed Denied Permission By Bcb To Play For Lucknow Super Giants

Bangladesh pacer Taskin Ahmed, who was approached by Indian Premier League side Lucknow Super Giants as a replacement for injured England quick Mark Wood, will not participate in the cash-rich league, the country's cricket board (BCB) has said. According to a report by local media, Super Giants reached out to the 26-year old pacer after Wood was ruled out of the tournament due to an elbow injury. "Since we have two important series like the ongoing home tour of South Africa and the home series against Sri Lanka, we feel it won't be right for him to take part in the IPL,'' BCB cricket operations chairman Jalal Yunus was quoted as saying by 'Cricbuzz'. The Bangladesh cricket team is currently in South Africa, playing an ODI series which will be followed by two Tests that concludes on April 11, while the IPL begins on March 26.

Decision on Tamim, Taskin after Tuesday's training

Taskin, on the other hand, seemed in a good shape on his way to recovery from a side strain that forced him out of action since the last white-ball series against Ireland at home. The pacer has been gaining in bowling intensity gradually and according to Hathurusingha, the seamer has no injury concerns at the moment. "Taskin actually trained really well during that rehab phase and I think physically he is in the best condition we all have seen. I think he will be ready to go if we decided to play him. There's nothing stopping at the moment; there's no injury but the bowling workload is the little bit of concern leading up to the period so again he will also assess after today's training and make the call," he said.
