Nitturu Khadervalli was looking for reassurance, an inclination and a willingness by the other side to understand the predicament he was in and to explain the path ahead. A small-time contractor from Rajampet village in the Annamayya district of Andhra Pradesh, Mr Khadervalli was not asking for much, but he had not found that sort of support during the initial days of the nerve-wracking period since his wife, 46-year-old Ameenamma, was diagnosed with breast cancer. It was a friend who told Mr Khadervalli about the then upcoming Sri Venkateswara Institute of Cancer Care & Advanced Research (SVICCAR), the state-of-the-art cancer facility in Tirupati in Andhra Pradesh that became functional in May 2022. Ms Ameenamma has been undergoing treatment at SVICCAR for the last two years, from the time it was a day-care centre, and she is on the mend. The prognosis is a positive for her, as also the fact that the cost of her care is subsidised and, not least, that the hospital and its staff are every bit empathetic. “The doctors, nurses and other staff members are exceptional,” says Mr Khadervalli. “Their approach is different and there is an emotional connect; hats off to them. Tirupati: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy on Thursday inaugurated a charitable state-of-the-art cancer care institute set up by the Tata Trusts at Alipiri, the foothills of Tirumala here. Built at a cost of Rs 180 crore, the sprawling cancer hospital called Sri Venkateswara Institute of Cancer Care and Advanced Research (SVICCAR) was constructed by Tata Trusts on a site allotted by Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) that administers the shrine of Lord Venkateswara here, a TTD official said. Tata Trust to Establish Cancer Centre in Tirupati

Tata Trusts has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) for the construction of a state-of-the-art cancer centre in Tirupati. The proposed facility in Tirupati will be a comprehensive centre, with in and out-patient facilities, diagnostics, therapeutics, rehabilitation and other such support services. In a phased manner the centre will house Operation theaters, linear accelerators for Radiation Oncology, Brachytherapy and a Bone Marrow Transplant unit. The hospital will be constructed on 25 acres of land provided by the TT Devasthanams. Tata Trusts have been working in cancer care for several decades across a spectrum of activities, ranging from the setting up of pioneering institutions such as the Tata Memorial Hospital in 1941 and Tata Medical Center, Kolkata in 2011, to providing medical relief grants to individuals suffering from this dreaded disease. Recognising the centrality of infrastructure to cancer service delivery and the shortage of the same in the country, the Trusts are in the process of conceiving and setting up or upgrading various super specialty centres across the nation with the objective of decentralizing cancer care in the country. As a member of the National Cancer Grid, a forum of 106 cancer hospitals, Tata Trusts have access to experts across these centres to enable its various cancer initiatives. Tata Trust Cancer Care Program Wins Support by Pfizer

Pfizer stated today that since 2020, it’s funding for Tata Trusts Cancer Care has assisted in enrolling and screening 70,000 patients for non-communicable diseases (NCDs), including cancer in Jharkhand, Assam, and Andhra Pradesh. For their Cancer Care Programme, Pfizer collaborated with Tata Trusts’ Special Purpose Vehicle, Alamelu Charitable Foundation (ACF), to assist set up health and wellness kiosks, promoting community screening as well as a virtual patient help desk support, as well as help in the training of ASHA and Anganwadi workers in Diphu and Silchar in Assam, as well as Jharkhand- Ranchi, and Tirupati in Andhra Pradesh. Super Speciality hospital for children to come up at Tirupati

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Thursday laid the foundation stone for Sri Padmavathi Children’s Super Specialty Hospital which is being constructed by Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) at Alipiri. He has also inaugurated Tata Trust’s Sri Venkateswara Institute of Cancer Care and Advanced Research (SVICCAR) set up in partnership with TTD. Speaking on the ocassion, Reddy said the State government enhanced Aarogyasri scheme and increased the number of medical services by which even treatment for Cancer can be availed free of cost. The TTD was taking a lot of effort to develop medical infrastructure and partnering with many institutions to expand healthcare services. Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Friday inaugurated Ranchi Cancer Hospital and Research Centre (RCHRC) set up by Tata Trusts. The 82-bed RCHRC will be operated under the aegis of the Tata Cancer Care Foundation (TCCF), which also operates a hospital in Tirupati and an onco-pathology lab in Mumbai. Soren said, "The health facility related to cancer was negligible in Jharkhand. Since the formation of the government, several efforts have been made in this regard. Now patients will no longer need to make long and expensive journeys to other cities for treatment. They will get world-class treatment with affordable and good quality care," he said. Built on 25 acres of land, the RCHRC is equipped with state-of-the-art technologies, well-equipped laboratory and diagnostics equipment including high-end CT and MRI scanners, digital mammography machines as well as advanced linear accelerator and brachytherapy machines to administer radiotherapy, an official said.
