The National Weather Service forecast for the greater San Francisco Bay Area calls for mostly sunny skies Thursday. Daytime highs are expected in the mid 60s on the coast, in the low 70s around the bay and in the mid 70s in the East Bay's inland valleys. There is a slight chance of rain next week. 3 SF Bay Area cities beat all

The Four Bay Area cities broke all-time records on Tuesday. In the North Bay, Santa Rosa soared to 115 degrees, beating it's more than 100-year-old all-time record of 112 set in 1913. Just down the road, Napa hit 114 degrees, surpassing the all-time max of 113 degrees set in 1961. In the South Bay, San Jose reached 109 degrees on Tuesday, breaking its old all-time record of 108 degrees set in 2017. All-time record temperatures set in Santa Rosa, Napa, Livermore (tie), Redwood City (tie), San Jose and King City this Tuesday afternoon (09/06/2022). For a complete list, please visit While many same-day, monthly and all-time records were surpassed on Tuesday, the highest temperature ever recorded in the Bay Area wasn't beat. Livermore hit 116 degrees on Monday, marking the Bay Area's max temperature ever measured at any of the weather service's dozen official sites in the nine-county region. On Tuesday, Livermore was forecast to break that record and reach 117 to 118 degrees. In the end, the East Bay city tied Monday's record, hitting a high of 116 degrees again. Heat wave brings highest Bay Area temperature ever recorded

Douglas Zimmerman/SFGATE According to early reports, the hottest temperatures ever recorded in Bay Area history were set during the Labor Day Weekend heat wave on Monday. In a phone call with SFGATE, National Weather Service Bay Area meteorologist Rick Canepa reported that three different Bay Area cities set or matched their all-time September highs. In Gilroy, the temperature hit 112 degrees, matching the previous September high. In Santa Rosa, the mercury also got up to 112, breaking the previous September high. And in Livermore, the temperature was recorded at a scorching 116 degrees — the highest mark the National Weather Service Bay Area has ever recorded in any part of the Bay Area.
