On the outskirts of Pondicherry, almost right on the beach is this offbeat beach resort whose purpose seems to be to defy categorisation. Spread over 35 acres of lush gardens, the Dune Eco Village and Spa is akin to a self-sustaining community that allows you to switch off from the rest of the world for the period of your stay. The accommodation on offer—62 bungalows and rooms in all—truly sets this beach resort apart. Each room and suite is unique, designed by various architects, artists and designers from all over the world. All rooms are furnished with furniture reclaimed from old Colonial houses, Chettinad palaces and Kerala planters’ mansions, done up in bright colours and filled with offbeat arts and crafts. The bathrooms, whether open-air or closed, are all luxuriously proportioned and fitted. There are the eco beach huts, made of bamboo mats, casuarina trees and woven coconut palm leaf roofs. Located close to the beach, with their own private gardens, these nature-cooled eco-bungalows are equipped with solar water systems, low consumption bulbs and organic linen. Even within these there are variations, including two stilt bungalows with walls made of lighted flex material printed with a surrealist picture collage! Our village is designed for travelers who are looking for a place for a long, leisurely stay surrounded by tranquility, peace, and comfort. This 25-acre eco-friendly beach village features uniquely designed bungalows and cottages, a swimming pool, a tennis court and 700m of pristine beach. The Dune welcomes guests all through the year. We aim to create an environment "to live in harmony with nature and men". The stay in Dune was excellent. The staff here is very polite and helpful. The food is really delicious. We were given a room called Garden room. It is an excellent room, very spacious and has private sit out as well. The hotel is near the beach and you can receive cool Breeze in the evenings. We will definitely come back again. We recommend this property to all. We offer two Honeymoon Luxury Suites with Air Conditioning: The Artist Penthouse with his in-room private jacuzzi in the main bed room and The Tower House Suite with a 360° view on the resort and gulf of Bengal also equipped with a private jacuzzi. It’s a must to be in these Luxury Suites, All these bungalows are nature cooled. At the Dune hotel, we have built our Eco bungalows using Casuarina trees and weaved coconut palm leaf roofs. Most of our Eco bungalows are sea facing with private gardens and not far from the swimming pool on the beach front. The staff was not helpful and lacked customer service skills. The room was filled with mosquitoes and the bathroom was dirty with erratic hot water supply. The play area was unsafe for kids with broken and rusted rides. would not recommend this hotel for a pleasant stay.
