While in South Sikkim, Ralang Monastery is a must visit place. Visit Maenam Hill if you want to experience the beautiful forest, night sky full of stars, a beautiful sunrise and one of the best views of Kanchenjunga range. There is also an old monastery. The Buddha park of Ravangla was constructed on account of the 2550th birth anniversary of Lord Gautam Buddha in 2006 and therefore serves as an important landmark to the Buddhist community.. Surprisingly, this monastery does not attract tourists despite its architecture, Bollywood presence, perhaps not made commercial by tours/travel guys or due to the road conditions. Historically it does not have significance however its peaceful atmosphere, beautiful paintings and large area amidst the mountains is amazing. This is one of the oldest Buddhist Monastery in the middle of the hilly region in Gangtok. There are many students studying Buddhism from their childhood. This is a vast place with several pockets of buildings with something related to the Monastery. Has an ample parking space for your cab and has a nice coffee shop near this place. We enjoyed a nice coffee on a rooftop sitting area, to make this visit a memorable one. A temple with the attraction of tourism makes it a place to visit. A small walk with fees for entrance to be paid takes you to the temple and the views are a...

14 Amazing Things To Do In Sikkim For The Best Vacation Of Your Life

Things to do in Sikkim Returning to Sikkim was like to coming back home to an old friend. In my previous visits, I had covered almost every nook and cranny eastern Sikkim had to offer. This winter, parts of north and southern Sikkim were on the agenda and as per usual, a stunner list of things to do in Sikkim greeted me with strange new towns and a truckload of stories. Itinerary I hopped onto one of the many jeeps parked on the Lebong Cart Road taxi stand in Darjeeling, that drove to Sikkim daily on a shared basis, charging a 250 rupees for the entire journey. I still wonder about those four hours crammed up in the middle seat, by virtue of the people I was seated with, the warm conversations that ensued and most of all, the scenic vistas that waited for us at every corner. Usually when I’m travelling alone, I try to keep the list of things to do in Sikkim open-ended and not make bookings at hotels prior to arriving at said place. The reason being that when you are sitting in the bus or the local taxi, taking you away from the railway station/airport, if you manage to strike up a conversation with your driver, it's almost guaranteed you will end up staying at a wonderful place, depending on your budget. En route Sikkim, I was fortunate enough to be travelling along with a small Sikkimese family of three, who on their way to Kalimpong, regaled me with stories of their favourite haunts, made me jot down a list of the best street vendors for momos, thukpa and left me with th...
