English Grammar for Class 3

The process of learning English, much like the moral of a common tale taught to novice students, is slow and steady, and especially so with the journey of mastering English Grammar. English Grammar, like those of most languages, is vast and daunting and children are introduced to each facet of the language and its grammar slowly at the different levels of education. Having mastered the basic of nouns and some other parts of speech in previous years, learn English grammar for Class 3 in the following- English Grammar Syllabus for Class 3 • Sentences: Students learn about the different parts of a sentence and how exactly a sentence is formed as an amalgamation of different ingredients including nouns, adjectives, verbs, conjunctions, adverbs, pronouns, and more. Further, children are specifically taught about how a sentence can be an interrogative sentence and can hence be used to ask a question. Lastly, they are taught about sentences which are mere statements, the only goal with their use being simple communication of an idea. • Nouns and Pronouns: The Class III NCERT syllabus talks in-depth about the noun, gendered nouns, and singular and plural nouns, giving students a general idea of what a noun is and some ways in which a noun can be used. Further a short and immediate introduction to pronouns helps the students to connect this set of chapters with the previous set on sentences in order to apply their understanding to both chapters parallelly. • Punctuation: Two separa...

Third Grade Math Common Core State Standards: Overview

Measure and estimate liquid volumes and masses of objects using standard units of grams (g), kilograms (kg), and liters (l). Add, subtract, multiply, or divide to solve one-step word problems involving masses or volumes that are given in the same units, e.g., by using drawings (such as a beaker with a measurement scale) to represent the problem. Understand that shapes in different categories (e.g., rhombuses, rectangles, and others) may share attributes (e.g., having four sides), and that the shared attributes can define a larger category (e.g., quadrilaterals). Recognize rhombuses, rectangles, and squares as examples of quadrilaterals, and draw examples of quadrilaterals that do not belong to any of these subcategories.

3rd Grade Math Curriculum

What's 3rd Grade Math all about? Grade 3 focuses on four key advancements from previous years: (1) developing understanding of and fluency with multiplication and division within 100; (2) developing understanding of fractions, especially unit fractions; (3) developing understanding of rectangular arrays and of area; and (4) describing and analyzing two-dimensional shapes. How did we order the units? In Unit 1, Rounding, Addition, and Subtraction, students rely on their substantial work in Grade 2 on place value to develop an understanding of rounding. They then develop fluency with addition and subtraction within 1,000. Finally, they use both aforementioned skills to solve one-and two-step word problems involving addition and subtraction, using rounding to assess the reasonableness of their answers. While the content taught in this unit is not major work of Grade 3 as determined by the Common Core State Standards, it serves as a foundation for later work, such as assessing the reasonableness of all types of two-step word problems and multiplying one-digit numbers by multiples of ten, making it a usefulintroduction to 3rd grade math. In Units 2 & 3, Multiplication and Division Parts I & II, students are introduced to the other two major operations, multiplication and division. They come to understand multiplication as finding the total number of objects in a certain number of equal-sized groups, and division as finding either the size of the group or the number of groups.
