Probe ordered into gangster’s murder at Tihar jail, says TN DGP

Chennai: Tamil Nadu Director General of Police (DGP) Sylendra Babu said on Monday that he has ordered an inquiry into the Tihar jail case where 33-year-old gangster Sunil Baliyan aka Tillu Tajpuriya was murdered in his prison cell. The Tamil Nadu DGP told HT that he has deputed additional director general of police, HM Jayaram, to conduct an inquiry. “Based on ADG Jayaram’s enquiry report further action will be taken,” Babu said. The Delhi high court on Monday ordered the jail superintendent to appear before the bench on the next date of hearing on May 25. According to jail officials, Tillu's killing was believed to be revenge for the murder of gangster Jitendra Gogi. Four gangsters, who were a part of Gogi's gang, were lodged on the first floor of Jail Number-9. How rivals planned and executed Tillu Tajpuria's murder inside Delhi's Tihar jail The killing of Tillu Tajpuria on Tuesday raises eyebrows. The manner in which the attack was planned suggests either a serious lapse on the part of jail officials or their connivance in the murder. The murder was allegedly carried out by four members of slain gangster Jitender Gogi's gang early Tuesday morning. Gogi had been killed by Tajpuria's shooters at the Rohini court complex in 2021. Fugitive Goldy Brar - whom the Canadian government has put on its list of 25 most wanted persons - claimed responsibility for the killing on Facebook. Brar and Bishnoi had joined hands with the Gogi gang in 2020-21 to share resources and manpower. Tajpuria had been shifted to Tihar just two weeks ago from Mandoli jail. New Delhi: CCTV footage from Delhi's Tihar jail shows the macabre murder of a gangster - whose body had nearly 100 injury marks - by his rivals. Tillu Tajpuriya, who was allegedly behind the killing of another gangster, Jitenger Gogi, inside a Delhi court in 2021, was stabbed to death with sharp-edged weapons inside Tihar jail on Tuesday. The CCTV footage of the attack shows some six men stabbing Tajpuriya several times on his head, back, shoulders and neck. During the attack, the gangster tries to shield his face but they overpowered him and dragged him out of his cell. The police had said the attackers of the rival Gogi gang came to his cell after The footage shows at least two of the attackers climbing down from a floor above using bedsheets. The Gogi gang's attack inside the jail is said to be a revenge for the murder of Jitenger Gogi in 2021. Two men of the Tajpuriya gang, dressed as lawyers, had shot dead Gogi inside north Delhi's Rohini court in September 2021. Both were killed in retaliatory firing by the police.

By Arvind Ojha: Gangster Jitendra alias Gogi was shot dead inside the Rohini court in Friday. Two attackers, who posed as lawyers, had opened fire at Jitendra, killing him on the spot. The two attackers, believed to belong to a rival gang headed by Sunil alias Tillu Tajpuriya, were also killed in a swift police counter-fire. Sources told India Today TV that gangster Tillu, who is currently lodged in Mandoli jail, had planned the shootout inside the Rohini court. Sunil Rathi, who is currently lodged in Baghpat jail, is a friend of Tillu Tajpuria. Rathi had hired Rahul alias Nitin, one of the attackers from Baghpat, to execute the shootout, sources said. Naveen Bali, another wanted criminal in Delhi who belonged to the Tillu gang, had hired the second attacker to carry out the shootout, sources said. Two days before the incident, they carried out a recce of the court premises, sources said. The Gogi and Tillu gangs have reportedly been at war for years. Video footage of the Police had said the incident happened around 1.15 pm when Gogi was taken to the courtroom for a hearing. Thirty-year-old Jitendra Mann 'Gogi' was one of Delhi's most wanted criminals and the chief of an "extremely sophisticated" organised crime syndicate. Named in over a dozen criminal cases, Gogi was arrested by the Delhi Police's counter intelligence unit in March last year. To avenge the killing of their leader, four gangsters associated with the Jitender Gogi gang allegedly attacked Tillu Tajpuriya, said police. The four men were identified as Yogesh Tonda, Deepak Titar, Rajesh Singh, and Riyaz Khan. They allegedly inflicted over 90 wounds on the gangster and killed him inside his cell, said police. In December 2021, two men entered Rohini court and fired at Jitendra Mann alias One of the close associates of Gogi, Goldy Brar, who is hiding in Canada has also taken responsibility, said police. In a purported social media post, Brar said, “Today, my friends Deepak Titar and Yogesh Tonda killed Tillu… He had killed my brother Gogi and we took revenge…” One of the accused, Yogesh Tonda, is a history-sheeter. As per police, he is involved in over 14 cases and was arrested in 2019. Tonda’s accomplice, Deepak Titar, is also a known gangster involved in over 24 cases, said police. Another accused, Rajesh, a native of Outer With 46 criminal cases lodged against him, he has been convicted in five.
