On this occasion, the Government of India has declared the celebration of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, which indicates the celebration of the 75 years of India’s independence from foreign rule. And the 'Har Ghar Tiranga' campaign is part of the Independence Day celebration this year. It brings together all laws, conventions, practices, and instructions for the display of the national flag by private, public, and government institutions. The code also states that those found insulting the national flag can face a prison term of up to three years and a fine for a first offence. Amendments to the code To ensure that no citizen falls foul of the rules, the Centre recently made two major amendments to the flag code. On July 20, 2022, the Centre amended the Flag Code of India, allowing the national flag to be flown both in the day and at night if it is displayed in the open or in the house of a member of the public.
