WTC Final: Shubman Gill sanctioned after criticizing umpire's decision, India lose match fee for slow over rate

By India Today Sports Desk: India were fined their entire match fee for slow over-rate in their defeat to Australia in the World Test Championship final at The Oval. India lost the title clash by 209 runs after a dramatic collapse on Sunday. India opener Shubman Gill was also sanctioned after his sarcastic social media post over a controversial Cameron Green catch which was upheld by the third umpire. "India were ruled to be five overs short of the target after time allowances were taken into consideration, while Australia were found to be four overs short. In accordance with Article 2.22 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, players are fined 20 per cent of their match fee for every over their side fails to bowl in the allotted time."
