Although "Rise of the Beasts" is the seventh film entry, it takes place chronologically prior to each of its predecessors save for the 2018 "Bumblebee" movie. "Bumblebee" is set in the '80s, during which the Autobots hide on Earth amidst their ongoing war against the Decepticons. Meanwhile, "Rise of the Beasts" takes place the following decade, still prior to the timeline of "Transformers," but well after the events of "Bumblebee." For the time being, then, "The Last Knight," will remain the chronologically latest franchise entry, even in the wake of two subsequent releases. Nevertheless, with "Rise of the Beasts" on its way, fans of the "Transformers" films both new and old may nevertheless want to watch "The Last Knight" either before or after "Rise of the Beasts," if only for a refresher on the series thus far now that it's about to grow a little larger and more complex.

Finding that Cybertron is dead, Optimus confronts his creator, a powerful sorceress named He calls to Tessa Yeager hides out at a junkyard, which serves as a sanctuary for many of the surviving When Viviane first meets a transformer Meanwhile, an Oxford professor named With Yeager's help, Viviane delves into her father's past, and finds that they must take the Alliance with Cogman and Burton, who neglects to go on the journey any further. The Alliance heads for the machine, but is intercepted by a TRF submarine. At times "The Last Knight" almost feels like it could work,again the plot is bananas and Bay seems to have abandoned some of his worst impulses but ultimately he just doesn't put the work in to make something that could have been enjoyable.
