Pakistan-based Dawat-e-Islami, which is under the scanner in the brutal Udaipur killing case, collected Rs 20 lakh in donations from some border villages and towns of Rajasthan in just about a month this year, sources in the security establishment said on Thursday. Also, an instance of a politician from the desert state allegedly donating about Rs 2 lakh to the organisation is under the radar of agencies probing the case. (PTI) Kanhaiya was hacked to death by two Muslim men who entered his shop in the city's Dhan Mandi area posing as customers. As the tailor took the measurements of one of them -- who later identified himself as Riaz - attacked him with a cleaver. The other man shot the brutal murder with his mobile phone.

By Arvind Ojha: Several new revelations are coming to the fore in the Udaipur murder case, which sent shockwaves across the country. One of the accused in the Udaipur murder case, Riyaz Attari, was on a mission to set up a sleeper cell of Dawat-e Islami in Rajasthan, an investigation by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has revealed. Riyaz used to target people to join Dawat-e Islami, the Pakistan-based Sunni group, by luring them in various ways. According to sources, a person privy to the case said that Riyaz Attari and his gang were planning to target two more people in Udaipur. An investigation by the NIA has revealed that Riyaz took rented accommodations in Muslim-dominated areas and used to change his address frequently to brainwash people. Riyaz used to ask people to join Dawat-e-Islami and collect donations for the same and was on a mission to set up a sleeper cell in Rajasthan, the investigation has revealed. A person privy to the case told the investigating officials that Riyaz used to target people to join Dawat-e-Islami and also lured them to join the Pak-based group.
