Behind UMass Amherst, it is the second largest educational facility in the state. The University was originally two separate institutions, which were founded in the 1890s: Lowell State College and Lowell Technological Institute. UMass Lowell offers a rich variety of bachelor, masters and doctoral degrees, including some of their most renowned courses in engineering, criminal justice, education, music, science and technology.
