Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off Kerala's first Vande Bharat train on April 25. Regular services of the train, from Thiruvananthapuram to Kasaragod, started from April 26. Here's everything you need to know about it. Route: The train will run between Thiruvananthapuram and Kasaragod. It will have stops at Kollam, Kottayam, Thrissur, Shornur, Kozhikode, and Kannur. Timing: According to the government, the total travel time will be 7 hours and 50 minutes. Train No. 20633 Kasaragod - Thiruvananthapuram Central – Kasaragod Vande Bharat Express (except Thursdays) will leave Kasaragod at 14.30 hrs on and from 26th April, 2023 and reach Thiruvananthapuram Central at 22.35 hrs, the same day. Coach Composition: The train has 16 coaches, of which two are executive with 104 seats. Stoppages: The Thiruvananthapuram to Kasaragod Vande Bharat train will start from Thiruvananthapuram Central at 5.20 a.m. It will reach Kollam at 6.07 a.m., Kottayam at 7.25 a.m., Ernakulam Town at 8.17 a.m., Thrissur at 9.22 a.m., ShoranurJn at 10.02 a.m., Kozhikode at 11.03 a.m., Kannur at 2.03 p.m. and finally at Kasaragod at 13.25 p.m. It will stop for just two minutes at all stations, except Ernakulam where it will stop for three minutes. New Delhi: Congress MP Shashi Tharoor on Wednesday hailed the Centre's announcement of a Vande Bharat train for Kerala and said that he is looking forward to attending the flagging off of the same by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The high-speed Vande Bharat Express train with state-of-the-art facilities for Kerala may be announced in the central budget. The busy Chennai, Bengaluru and Mangaluru routes are under consideration. Southern Railway has also made this recommendation. Thiruvananthapuram Division will be supplied with two units of 16 passenger cars manufactured at Integral Coach Factory in Chennai. Kerala's Vande Bharat Train is expected to be a part of 75 trains to announced across the country by August. The speed of Thiruvananthapuram-Eranakulam (via Alappuzha) and Shornur-Mangalore routes will be increased to 130 kmph for Vande Bharat. At present the average speed between Ernakulam-Shornur is 80 kmph and Shornur-Mangalore is 110 kmph. Rail bypasses will be constructed at Kollam and Kuttipuram stations which have sharp bends. Kerala Vande Bharat Express will become India’s 14th superfast railway and is expected to come with 16 coaches. The Vande Bharat Express, also known as Train 18 is an electric multiple-unit train operated and managed by Indian Railways. These trains are a step towards India’s initiative to keep the country green and clean, by cutting its dependency on fossil fuels. The Southern Railway (SR) zone is set to introduce a new semi-high-speed express service in Kerala with Vande Bharat Express. It will be the state’s first blue and white coloured train and the third for the SR zone. The train will cover a distance of 501 km through scenic backwaters, coconut forests and the Western Ghats.
