The new Vande Bharat Express trains will likely be flagged off in Mumbai, from where it will travel to its destinations Pune and Solapur in Maharashtra. New Vande Bharat Express trains route: Mumbai-Pune-Solapur The train will depart from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) station in Mumbai and travel to Solapur via Pune. It will hardly take 1 hour and 50 minutes to reach Pune from Mumbai. The train has been manufactured at the Chennai-based Integral Coach Factory. These trains will be fitted with parking brakes, following which they will undergo trials in the hilly ghat section on the outskirts of Mumbai to check whether they need the deployment of additional locomotives to cross this terrain. Bankers are used for pushing trains in ghat sections, besides avoiding incidents of train rollback in case of the parting of coaches. But the process of attaching and detaching bankers takes at least a few minutes, increasing travel time due to technical halts, an official explained. To do away with bankers in ghat sections, both Vande Bharat Express trains will be fitted with parking brakes which will stop the train from rolling down on a gradient, the official said. PUNE: The city will have a second Vande Bharat train as the Secunderabad-Pune Shatabdi Express would be replaced with new rakes starting April this year. "It is almost final and the new train is expected to start operations soon. This train will belong to the Secunderabad rail division falling under the South Central Railway. The railways have already decided to replace the Shatabdi Express trains with Vande Bharat rakes and this move is in line with that," a railway official said.
