Vida V1 electric scooter review: price, performance, design, features

Hero MotoCorp is the last of the Indian mass-market two-wheeler manufacturers to launch an electric vehicle, and like Bajaj, they’ve decided to do it via a dedicated, premium EV sub-brand. The new EV brand is called Vida and the scooter is called the V1. The Vida V1 is available in two variants, the V1 Plus and V1 Pro. We have the Pro here and the main difference between the two is in the battery capacity. So most of what you read here will apply to both models. Vida V1 review: design The Vida V1 wears a brand new and rather unusual design. The most striking angle is its aggressive looking face with a low mounted LED headlamp, wide bodywork and flyscreen on top. The side profile is all about that large swooping body panel and the unusual split seat design. From the rider’s point of view, the Vida gets some premium looking switchgear and a 7-inch touchscreen TFT display. Things get a little more unusual at the rear where there’s a lot of black plastic around the boot area. This is designed to be a modular system where you can remove the black plastics, or the rear seat, but the company says that this functionality will be available at a later date. In its current form, the boot space stands at 26 litres, which isn’t segment leading, but it is quite good. However, since the boot is split into two sections, you’ll only be able to store a small open face helmet in there. Personally, the design is neither a deal maker, nor a breaker, however, the quality and finish could certai...

Hero Vida Electric Scooter Launch Delayed To End 2022

There were also questions regarding what brand name the bikemaker adopts for its EV business since rights for the ‘Hero’ brand are exclusively held by the Naveen Munjal-led firm Hero Electric. By opting for the brand name ‘Vida’, Hero MotoCorp has avoided all legal tangles and should now be able to focus solely on product development. Hero Vida Electric Scooter Delayed The first model to come out of this new Vida brand will be an electric scooter which was earlier teased in August last year during the company’s 10th anniversary celebration. This electric scooter was planned for launch on 1st July 2022, which is also the birth anniversary of Dr. Brijmohan Lall, Chairman Emeritus of Hero MotoCorp. But that is not going to be the case now. As per the latest update from Hero MotoCorp, launch has been delayed to festive season 2022. Mr. Swadesh Srivastava, Head of Emerging Mobility Business Unit (EMBU), said, “In line with our philosophy of providing the highest quality products to our customers, we remain committed to bringing the best of Electric Vehicles (EVs) for our customers across the globe. The ongoing geopolitical situation has resulted in enormous supply chain issues and shortage of various components, including semiconductors. Less than a year after the • New Vida models will have different design language • More than 100 new Vida dealerships to open in FY24 • Dealerships to be split into three categories of different sizes Recently, Vida expanded its reach across quite a few Tier-I and Tier-II cities in India, but the company has plans to expand to over 100 locations across the country in FY24. There will also be three different types of Vida dealerships – Vida Experience Centre, Vida Hub and Vida Pod. As the name suggests, the Experience Centre will be a full-fledged conventional showroom and will be the largest of the three types of outlets. The Vida Hub will be the middle ground and will be a medium-sized outlet for the EV subsidiary of Hero. The smallest Vida touch point of the lot, the Vida Pod, will likely have just one e-scooter on display and would probably be more of a mall kiosk. All this dealer-level expansion will be carried out in FY24. The new Vida models that will follow will most likely have different styling, and perhaps, undergo some changes to its powertrain as well. However, it's too soon to say what to expect since the plans to expand the Vida line-up are slated to take place in ‘FY25 and beyond’, which is over two years away. The Vida V1 is the only homegrown electric scooter from an established name to currently offer the convenience of a swappable battery setup.
