Vienna Beef is returning to former factory

CHICAGO — A building that featured a popular store and cafe for one of the best-known producers of hot dogs in the country is being renovated and put back into use. Vienna Beef announced plans to redevelop a former company factory located at 2501 N. Damen Ave. in Chicago as they’ll put $20 million into the space to add a variety of new amenities to the space. Back by popular demand, however, is the Vienna Beef Factory Store and Cafe, which closed in 2020. It will be reopened with the same products as before along with a number of menu options featuring company products. At the same time, Vienna Beef will be adding an outdoor plaza that will feature over 80 trees and hundreds of plants. The development will also have a few other retailers including a “big box” store that will be announced by the company at a later date. There will also be new offices for 50 Vienna Beef employees on the second floor and in a few retail areas. Those employees who work at buildings in Fulton Market and Bridgeport will start working at the building on Damen by the end of the year. “ViennaBeefhas long imagined what possibilities exist at our former factory location, whereViennawas in operation since the early 1970s. We couldn’t be more excited to seeViennaBeefPlaza come to life,” said senior vice president atViennaBeef Tom McGlade in a statement. “ViennaBeefis a Chicago company in its heart and at its core, and it only makes sense that there is a place in the city for enthusiasts to come and exp...

Vienna Open: Daniil Medvedev battles back to win second title of year

Vienna Open: Daniil Medvedev wins Vienna Open- Daniil Medvedev celebrated becoming a father for the first time earlier this month with his second ATP title of the year in beating Canada’s Denis Shapovalov 4-6, 6-3, 6-2 in Sunday’s final in Vienna. The 26-year-old former world number one dropped his first set of the week as Shapovalov produced some eye-catching tennis by firing down 21 winners. Follow Vienna Open 2022 updates with However, Medvedev — whose wife Daria gave birth to a baby girl on October 14 — did not buckle and stormed back to level the match with some terrific shots of his own. The third set was a procession as the Russian broke Shapovalov several times and eventually took the title with his sixth match point. “I am really happy,” said Medvedev, who had reached the quarter-finals on the only other occasion he played in Vienna. “This match was the best of the week because Denis was really playing unreal until probably 4-3 in the second set. #15🏆 — Daniil Medvedev (@DaniilMedwed) “He dropped his level by maybe two percent and I was able to use it. “This is one of the best victories when you know your opponent is on top of you, but you try and stay there and do what you can.” Vienna Open: Daniil Medvedev battles back to win second title of year, defeats Denis Shapovalov in Vienna Open final Medvedev’s 15th career title sets him up nicely for the final two targets for him this season. Vienna Game

The Vienna Game is a 1.e4 opening for White. Compared to other 1.e4 openings, the Vienna is much less common but theoretically sound. Because of this, it can be an excellent weapon for beginners to catch their opponents by surprise. The Vienna is also suitable for more experienced players, with GMs like • • • • • • • • • • The Vienna Game starts after the moves 1.e4 e5 2.Nc3. Instead of the more common 2.Nf3, White chooses to develop the queenside knight. White's second move allows for a quick f2-f4 pawn-push. It also keeps the d1-h5 diagonal open for the queen, which can go to f3 or h5. The starting position of the Vienna Game. • It is less theoretical than the Spanish or Italian openings • It avoids Petrov's Defense • White has strategically clear formations • It puts less immediate pressure on Black • It blocks the c-pawn, making c2-c3 to prepare the d2-d4 push more difficult The Vienna Game is not as common or as old as other 1.e4 openings. For this reason, it is also not heavy in theory. Black has three main responses to the Vienna on their second move: 3...Nf6, 3...Nc6, and 3...Bc5. Black's most popular response to the Vienna game is the Falkbeer Variation, which starts after 1.e4 e5 2.Nc3 Nf6. Black develops a knight and puts pressure on the white e4-pawn. Black's last move also helps them play the d7-d5 push if White plays the Vienna Gambit (discussed shortly). From this position, White can opt for an aggressive or a positional approach. The Mieses Variation is the...

Schönbrunn Palace (Vienna)

The Cultural World Heritage Site of Schönbrunn Palace is Austria's most frequently visited tourist attraction. In the palace the residential and state rooms with their original furnishings and decorations convey an authentic impression of the imperial lifestyle. The park and gardens surrounding the palace make Schönbrunn in a unique synthesis of Baroque art as well as providing a convenient and highly popular recreational area for Vienna's population. 3 generations visited this magnificent palace. In addition to myself my daughter and her husband were their 11 and 8 year old sons. My complaint was the difficulty finding some of the things. The maps did not show where the maze was and the children wanted to see that first. We finally resorted to Google directions. You go in the back of the palace and walk towards the giant fountain. Partway there on your right between 2 statues is a recess with a sign that says maze labyrinth. The family enjoyed it although some areas had big puddles from the rain. There is also a children's playground that they both enjoyed and rest rooms. The palace was magnificent. Please be advised no backpacks or umbrellas are allowed on the tour, but there is a place to check them. We bought complete tickets but the strudel making closes admission 30 minutes before the final presentation which we missed by a few minutes. This zoo has pandas. The best place to eat at the palace is an 18th century building in the center of the zoo that was a breakfast s...

Watch: Dominic Thiem falls to the floor in exultation after brilliant comeback against Tommy Paul at Vienna Open

263 🇦🇹 WOW WOW WOW 🇦🇹 The former World No. 3 shook off a slow start in the first set, then went on to save two match points in the third-set tie-break to complete the turnaround. The fightback was reminiscent of his three-set win against Hubert Hurkacz just five days ago in the Antwerp quarterfinals, where he fended off three match points in the second set en route to victory. Thiem has been trying to regain his form since incurring a right wrist injury in Mallorca in June last year. He kicked off his return at a Challenger event in Marbella, Spain, last March, and competed in another tournament at that level in Rennes, France, just over a month ago as he continues to regain his form. Thiem has since gone on to reach back-to-back semifinals in Gijon and in Antwerp last week.
