Hyderabad climate: weather by month, temperature, rain

Climate chart - Hyderabad The climate of Hyderabad is tropical, with a rainy season from June to October, due to the monsoon, and a dry season from November to May. The city is located in south-central India, at 17 degrees north latitude and 550 meters (1,800 feet) above sea level. Hyderabad is the capital of the state of Telangana (born in 2014), and will also remain the capital of the state of Andhra Pradesh until the new capital under construction, Amaravati, is inaugurated. Due to the distance from the sea, the rains are not abundant, moreover, the dry season is long, so the landscape is semi-arid. Before the monsoon the temperature rises, and in April and May, on the hottest days, it can reach 45 °C (113 °F). On the other hand, owing to the altitude, nights can be cool from November to February. The temperature dropped to 8.3 °C (46.9 °F) in January 2011 and to 8.7 °C (47.7 °F) in December 2005. Hyderabad is in the path of tropical cyclones. Typically, cyclones occur from April to December, with two intensity peaks before and after the monsoon (from late April to early June and in October-November). Since we are far from the coast, the city is not hit by cyclones at full strength, however, they can bring heavy rainfall, which can lead to flooding, as happened in October 2020. Best Time The best time to visit Hyderabad is from November to January, being the least hot within the dry season. By February, the temperature begins to rise, and in some years it can get very h...

Hyderabad braces for 5 more days of rain & hail

HYDERABAD: The India Meteorological Department on Sunday predicted thunderstorms for another five days across all 32 districts in Telangana, including Hyderabad, following severe hailstorms in Karimnagar and other northern districts of Telangana. This weather is expected to persist until Thursday. Heavy rains with thunderstorms lashed Warangal on Sunday, with Khanapur receiving 73 mm of rainfall. Suryapet and Hanumakonda received 48.8 mm and 41.5 mm of rainfall respectively. As a result of these thunderstorms, the temperature has significantly dropped in some parts of state, with Bhadrachalam and Adilabad experiencing a decrease of 3.2° Celsius and 2.3° Celsius, respectively. Experts believe that the sudden drop in temperatures in Telangana is due to larger climatic conditions across southern parts of the country and unseasonal thunderstorm rains. "As per the rain forecast, rains will start in the peninsula from Sunday and spread to central and north India all the way till May 7. Temperature will also start receding. These are a bizarre occurrence of country wide thunderstorms over the next 15 days," said Jatin Singh, founder director of Skymet.
